TAO, Mudhawk, Coolster

In the past I wouldn’t even think about buying a Chinese knock off, but it seems like they’re much better than they used to be and parts are readily available on the better brands. I’m looking for 110 to 150 sized bikes, something my nine year old can ride until her teens. They’re half the price of Japanese bikes and get pretty good reviews.

Any experience good or bad would be appreciated

My dad was cleaning the carb out on my brothers and the accelerator some how got stuck. He was working in this little arse 10x10 shop and when he cranked it, he put it in gear. The damn bike thru him off and climbed the wall and flipped over. No idea how he wasnt hurt in that little room.

All i know if it isnt used, the carb turns to gunk quickly

I had bought one for my son about 5 years ago. Paid $1000.00 and within the next year and a half I spent that if not more on fixing it. I finally gave it away and bought a Polaris for him.

Ill let you know after christmas.

We got 3 of the Tao brand. Two of the 110 and one 125 I think.

I did ride them around small yard. They have plenty of power. Im about 205lbs or so and I was cruising.

They work well.

Throw away the fuel lines ASAP and replace with good shite.

Enjoy.

The fuel lines they send are just rubber hoses. You have to get actual fuel lines or your carb will be fricked all the time.

Have a coolster at the house I just finished repairing (lost count how many times) and got a call about a TAO night before last. Steer clear. Only advantage of them is the parts are cheap if you order them yourself.

My buddy got one for his two kids. They brought it to their farm to play with it hard about 4 trips before it was beginning to fk up. he knew the risks but doesn't care b/c he's a mechanic. same rough price, about 1k if i recall correctly.

that thing sucked.

I bought 2 around 10 years ago. The ones I had were total pieces of shite. May as well have light $1600 on fire.

Bought the Coolster..Now daughter has the Kawasaki KFX50. should have just bought the Kawasaki from the beginning. From Carb, throttle, brake line..Coolster was a constant problem. Coolster was stored in climate controlled garage and never in the elements.

Buy a Honda, Yamaha or Kawasaki.

Bought my son the coolster 110 2 Christmases ago and it still runs good. The muffler fell off so it is load as hell, you have to push start it and tighten the chain every other time you run it. But other than that is a fun lil bike to ride.

The place I bought it is owned by a high school friend of mine, and he told me before I bought it to undo every nut and bolt, put loctite and retorque them. He said the chinese don't tighten anything.

Ok, thanks for the replies, already hearing what I see the used ones for sale describing, loose chains and gunked up carbs. I think I’d rather spend the money on a Japanese bike that I don’t have to work on every time we want to use it.

Buy a Japanese atv,

Even though the sticker price is double, they are still the cheaper option once you factor in repairs.

Don’t do it. They are awful. Just get a used recon and they’ll be able to use it for years. Small enough my 5 year old can drive it but big enough for anyone.

Just pitched in with my son to buy my 5yr old granddaughter a Honda 90 4-wheeler for Christmas. We could only find one within 8 hours from home
It was marked up $1k over msrp because they know supply is low. We still bought it because he is having a boy in two more weeks, and we expect the Honda to last. i have a 1985 250 big red 3 wheeler that still runs. It's amazing. Can't kill it.
