trying to decide whether it is worth it to buy timber on the stump and have it cut and sawed or buy from a mill.

Up here in East Texas, I bought from a sawmill in Rusk, Texas. Dimensional was $2.00 a bdft and I think pecky cypress was $3.00 a bdft.

I go to Rusk to buy lumber or to pass through on visits to Houston. I don't live there. I live in a luxury home on a lake outside Tyler. But Rusk is a nice little town. I stay away from the mental hospitals there though.

I recently bought some cypress to make some posts for the front porch and back patio on our new home. I bought 6x6's for back and 8x8's for front.

A 16' 6x6 was $84 and a 16' 8x8 was $149.

Those grounds are spectacular and a damn waste for the crazies.

Don't know where you live, but I deal with Jones & Jones Cypress, LLC located on Hwy. 1 in Batchelor, La. which is about 20 or so miles south of Marksville.

Their number is 1-225-492-2462 or 1-318-359-8061. They have the best prices I've found and I usually get a truck bed full when I head up that way to visit family members.

I think the last time I bought cypress (about a year ago) it was a little over 4 a bdft for 8 quarter. Too high if you ask me.
