Any thumb release shooters here?

Tell me about em?

I’m considering trying to make the swap because I get aggravated with the wrist release getting in the way, hitting things and making noise and also not comfortable with jackets and gloves.

They are popular among target shooters but I’m a hunter. I like the idea of hanging the release on my loop and having it ready to go while on the stand.

I use a carter Choclate addiction. I love it. Only drawback is you can’t wear a glove on your shooting hand.

Why can’t you wear a glove?

I guess you could wear a thin glove. I find it hard to grip the release and feel where the anchor point is with a glove on.

I switched last year. I target shoot and hunt and use it for both. It is a lot more convenient than a wrist release. I just attach it to my string when I hunt and hang my bow up so when I grab my bow it’s already attached.

I would never go back to a wrist release.

Edit: I do wear a thin glove hunting and have no problem with it

Is it spring loaded close and button to open?

Get one and don’t look back. I’ve used one for several years. My older brother (who dabbles in some target shooting) got me into mine. He swears that they are more accurate. Finally, when you settle on one, buy two of them. Inevitably you will drop one whilst high in a tree.

I use a Stan SX3. Just lock it on the loop and it’s not in the way until you’re ready to shoot.

I tried to switch but can't find one I like. I do a lot of spot and stalk so I can't leave the release hanging on my bow. The Carter wise choice I shot clicks loud when you hook it to the string. I have several buddies who swear by them though..

It’s all I’ve ever used. Tried another type and it didn’t feel right.

I shoot a 4 finger chocolate addiction and I love it. It has slipped out of my hand twice during hot summer days, I recommend putting a lanyard on the cocking lever if you practice a lot.
