Not exact location but where you went Spillway. East or West Bank. Saw a small flock in the BC but I wouldn’t hunt there.

Word is that Texas will be cutting teal season to 9 days in 2025 due to declining numbers of blue wings in the central flyway. I’m sure Louisiana is next.

That applies to more than Central flyway, so expect it here in La as well.

Saw less than a dozen yesterday when I went out to brush a blind. I fully expect a lot more birds by the time season opens

I was shooting blue wings until my last hunt at the end of the big duck season in CenLA last year which is a first for me (in those numbers), usually nothing but greenwings after teal season. Didn't LDWF just make a request to the Feds to permit an early (or late maybe) tree duck season? Likely will be during teal. That will be a plus at least.

Pointe a la hache yesterday dressing out some blinds between the rain. Saw a few bands of teal. Not a ton though. Ponds looked great though. I think that high tide event in the summer helped the lilies clear out.

Saw a couple of bands from the camp porch in Shell Beach over the weekend. Didn't really go out and about in the marshes.

No reports and haven’t checked at all but I’ll be in a kayak in King George bay September 14th watching the morning sky.

Federal management plan allows 16 day if the population is 4.7 M or greater. It's at 4.6 which now calls for a 9 day season. if it dips to below 3.3M there weill be zero days early teal.

You brave. I can’t speak for Texas but the gators in LA are thick. Juice isn’t worth the squeeze in commercial harvesting filling tags.

Does the federal management plan base this off of Blue Wing Teal Population only? Or does this also include GWT and Cinnamon Teal?

Nuttin but woodies in south MS. Seeing more of them lately, though.
