i'm seriously thinking of making a change after this deer season to a T/C with the comfort tech stock. i like the idea of being able to swap barrels btwn .35 wheelen and "something else".
i see that the 6.5 credmore is available and i'm developing a real fascination with this round. it would probably be my round to use outside of primitive deer season.
i'm open to suggestions and really like watching the OB bat things around the horn.
i'f it makes any difference, i'm a LONG TIME .30-'06 hunter and still think the round is proof that God loves us hunters and wants us to be happy.
tia, i'm listening

I have one with a few different barrels but the .35 whelen stays on it full time now. I have the 26" pro hunter barrel, with 200 grain federal fusions it shoots moa and is a freakin hammer on deer.

Glad y’all are talking about the .35s. I have one and have shot hornady, fusions and Remington’s through it and can’t hit shite.

Seriously thinking it’s my mounts

Could be. I tried hornady superformance through mine and they didn't shoot near as good as the fusions.

Could shoot MOA at 35yds, back it up to 100 and couldn’t hit paper. Tried adjusting the scope and it didn’t help. Had it in a sled too.

What rings would you recommend? I know this gun will shoot great, my cousin has dropped many deer with it.

I will say i tried a Bergara barrel in 7mm08 and that thing would fling bullets everywhere. It was absolutely terrible with every load i tried.

How do you have your scope set up?

I've been shooting T/C's for many years, although most of mine are Contenders w/ 14" handgun barrels. I do have one Encore frame and 2 Encore barrels, a custom 22-250 Imp and a 250 Savage. I've been happy w/ the accuracy of my Encore barrels. In general, it seems as if the accuracy of the Encore's in line w/ most factory guns. I will warn you though that if you like your second barrel, chances are you'll probably end up buying a second frame to avoid placing and replacing your barrels. It appears as if 6.5 CM ammo is some of the most accurate factory ammo around.

I had one in .308. After missing a deer with it (badly I might add) I took it to the range. I couldn’t hit paper twice at 50 yds. Fooled with it for about 3weeks and didn’t want to spend anymore time or money on it and I got rid of it.
ETA: has really good leupold rings and a pretty decent scope on it.

35 is rough on scope mounts. Single piece is almost mandatory no matter what the ring maker says. My CVA came with their one piece mount and it’s never given me an issue. I put a DNZ on my younger brothers handi-rifle and it’s a tack driver now, after some other adjustments.

35s are also notorious for being picky about ammo from barrel to barrel, all you can really do is shoot them all and see what it likes. Mine likes federal premium bonded bear claws and will stack them up at 100 yards, but I’ve heard others cuss them. It can be dramatically different from gun to gun.

Some people have had issues with the T/C 35s having loose hinge pins, I don’t own one so that’s the entent I know about it.

35 is a great caliber. My 30-06 and .270 only leave the cabinet if I’m hunting long power lines these days.

Originally bought mine with the for the muzzleloader but have since put a 35 whelen barrell on it. I shoot the 200 gr fed bear claws and have had very good luck with it. It packs a punch on both ends but it’s a great combo gun!

Encores are notorious about certain barrels being wildly inaccurate. The front stock attachment can make it better or worse. I have a contender and an encore w several barrels for each. Prob won't ever buy another though. Even when they shoot good, it isn't generally as accurate as a good bolt gun.

I have the 35 and a 308 in bergera barrels, both have the dnz mounts.

Have not spent a ton of range time but they do both group at 100. I shoot corelocks out of the 35 and the 308 I noticed it does not like premium ammo. Flames will shoot a few feet out the barrel.

I have the Peo Hunter in 35 Whelen, and it is a very accurate weapon. I also bought a 223 barrel for it that I use blowing up beaver dams with tannerite. No complaints with either barrel as far as accuracy goes.

I never understood the appeal of a crack-barrel big rifle to begin with.

In Miss, a T C or similar in 35 caliber or larger qualifies as a primative weapon. Now instead of running patch after patch after patch down the barrel, I just wipe it down and put it up. It has certainly made after the hunt easier.
