Can't find anything around Lake Charles. I may end up having to drive to REI in Houston. Thanks.
edit
This will be Sept archery, backpacking trip into wilderness, so i'll probably have a 30-40 pound pack on.

How's that? It's not an expensive trip.

You can get some good Dannons at places like Cabellas (or whatever it is now) in the $200 range. Try on first, break them in before you go

Skip the heavy boots and get a quality pair of trail shoes that are basically a heavy duty sneaker. The much prefer those for early season Western hunts.

I would get something over the ankle, but heavy duty isn't needed.
Good pair of hiking boots like my Lowa Renegades is plenty.
OP, there are a number of good brands just find the boot that fits you best and at the minimum keeps your heel locked in.

Khoury’s in sulphur. If he don’t have it he can order it for you

I bought some danners for my trip last year. Semi guided hunt and we hiked about 35 miles over 7 Days. No blisters no pain. BUT one thing I did do is put the boots on about 3x week and walked on the treadmill to aid breaking them in.

Make sure it's above the ankle.

I really like my Lowa Rangers. They have fantastic customer service and will pay for the shipping if you need to swap sizes.

I don’t do above the ankle and have no problems. Love the lite weight. I’ve never rolled an ankle in my life, so I might be different than most.
