From the limited research I did a few years ago Reform gets hit kinda hard. Again, I’m just saying this through research I did a few years ago and have never stepped foot in Missouri.

Supposedly if you contact the game managers they are very helpful for any CA your wanting to hunt.

If you can kill deer on Louisiana public land you will be able to kill good bucks in Missouri. Ive been a few years in a row and have had chances on multiple good bucks.

I’ve looked for job openings at the callaway plant that’s in the middle of reform. I haven’t hunted reform but I did go to Missouri last year on a public land hunt and I loved it so much I didn’t want to leave. I’ve already booked my room for this year. I plan to go every year. I killed a decent buck last year, but I’m hoping that if I apply what I learned last year, this year, I’ll kill a nice one. I would suggest having a couple of nearby CA’s scoped out before you go, as fall back plans. We scouted like 4-5 different CA’s and for the most part they were different than what we thought they would be from looking at the aerial maps. I remember one of them that we checked out was a straight up climb that never ended. We quickly scratched that one off and moved on to the next on our list. Good luck on your trip though! It is very different than Louisiana public land. You actually see deer in Missouri.

I would go further north if you can. Especially since Iowa and Illinois are shotgun states. This will be Iowa's first year with rifles though. There is way more farm land north of the river and the deer are just bigger. Deer season is such a big deal up here that some people save their rental property just for deer season because they make so much more money from that than renting it out like a normal house to locals...

On the plus side Missouri is getting it's first Elk season this year, which is in southern Missouri. So maybe that is something to see on your way. There's also a wild horse herd down there somewhere too if you want to see random things.

Ironically enough one of my best friend’s family owns a shite ton of property in Osage County, Mo. & they have a great relationship w/ a group of Baws from La. They love the big bucks & toms they get to harvest in the fall & we love the crawfish, shrimp, & crab they send up every summer. If your gonna be in Callaway County I live next door in Boone Co. & there is quality to excellent bucks all over Central Mo. I’d be happy to throw out some feelers & see if we can’t put you onto some private land. Bow or firearm?

My friend and I are considering coming up this fall to do some bow hunting. We bow hunt public land in Arkansas. Do you recommend any bow hunting public land spots where you’re located?

Obviously the closer to metro areas like KC & STL have a tendency to be war zones. As a result we get quite a few travelers to BoCoMo that make a weekend of it hunting in the morning & MU football/tailgating in the afternoon. Not sure where you’re looking to hunt but we’re overrun w/ deer so as long as you register & take a course, not sure if available on-line, & out of state license. You can hunt w/in designated areas in a lot of mid to large cities, obviously w/ varying ordinances. In Columbia you don’t have to be a resident & bow/crossbow only. I will say this they are gold mines never fails the biggest deer in the county always seem to be taken w/in city limits.

Expect a lot of pressure and be willing to adapt to it. Same goes for the vast majority of public land in Missouri in early November. What dates are yall planning?

Yes sir, Ive hunted Mizzou with family annually for the last 19 years. My personal favorite with it comes to the public land is fox river (archery only as most public is). Also youll need a canoe.
