It'll be primarily used for bushhogging... about 80 acres.

you'd be surprised that you could probably get an 80-90 hp for about the same price as a 50. friend bought a 90 hp Kubota demo w a few hundred hrs on it for 23k. You need a bat-wing for that much acreage

Nah... we already have 1 tractor so this one will be so that 2 people can bushhog at the same time. Plus there is a big arse pond and some wooded areas so it will be closer to 60-70 acres... divided by 2 people.

Not sure if this has been mentioned, but if you can get your hands on an LA market bulletin that would be good. Usually some good used equipment in there.

Trucks, Tractors, and Equipment was the magazine I was talking about. My dad said he picked it up in a Shell station.

Tractor House has one too, but there's has stuff from all across the country.

You still looking?

I know a guy parting with a 40something horse JD that is barely broken in.

Best two places for tractors and equipment in our area is the market bulliten in Louisiana, but more so in MS. If you find something you like you like there are several people that will transport the tractor to you for about .50/mile. (Assuming you don't have the equipment to transport).

The MS Bulliten tends to have WAY more ag equpimnet than the LA bulletin, but have bought tractors from both over the years.

Lastly, I think you really need to re-evaluate your plans. A 6' bushog is like pissing in the wind on 80 acres. Yes you say that two people will be cutting, but what if only one can cut. I would do a 10' bushhog at a Minimum. You can do a pull behind with as little as a 50 hp.

I have a 10' and a 20' bat wing, couldn't imagine cutting without either on 120 acres.

I agree with pretty much everything you said except this. I've been running a 51 horse @ the PTO JD with a 6' bushhog and that is pretty much all it can handle with the grass thick like it is. I would have to ride the clutch to run a 10 footer with that tractor. I would go 80 PTO horse for a 10' hog.

JD makes a 10' that is rated for a 45 hp tractor. I am not saying i would do it, but that's straight from the manufacturer.

I run my 10' on a 75 hp and it handles it well even when it's REAL thick. However have a 125 for the 20' Batwing.

The more HP the better for mowing I will completely agree with that.
