My Zebco 808's are better than any other fishing gear sold in America!

I keep 5 of them in the barn at the camp for when I am ready for some catfish. I don't want to ruin my good stuff on them.

It's always funny when I take someone new fishing. I have poles, spincast (33s and 808s), spinning and bait casting setups. Depends on the skill set of the fisher on what they can use. I can handle anyone from 3 to 80 with skill levels between 0 and 100.

Bait casters are the next step up from the Zebco 202, 303, 404, couple of garcia closed faced reels. Spin casters for a more variety of fishing for sure with light weight rigs for perch to a more heavy rig for offshore.

Manually flip bail and use line conditioner, will eliminate a lot of your problems.

No, I’m talking more about accuracy with casting and ability to work a lure in the water.

Not going to lie, I have some NICE baitcast set ups but I use my BG2500's on a 6ft- 7ft pole 90% of the time. It is just EASIER to fish with them.

I use to break out the baitcast for everything, now I am just lazy and spinning gear is just too easy to use.

I got a lot of practice in and I can put my baitcasting setup pretty much anywhere I could a spinning setup. I'm not casting far in most cases so it wasn't a big deal.

I said previously I can see that. I use a spinning setup on a few fisheries in my parts.

I'm using my new baitcasting setup with bobber and eggs so I don't need to work anything. I just to place it where I think the fish are and let it drift. I only switched because I lost several fish last fall in mid mend (no mending issues with a baitcast) and I have a lot more control over the fish once hooked up. They run for wood every time.. Eggs is how I fish 75% of the time in tributaries so losing fish needed to stop.

I was always afraid of baitcasters growing up because of bird nesting them. Then one day I got my brother to teach me. I’ve never looked back. On the rare occasion I use a spinning reel I feel it wears out my forearm and wrist pretty quickly. So now I don’t care for them at all.

If you have a good set up like a Shimano mid-grade reel on a good rod, I like to use them.

Do not like Baitcasters. I can start out fishing with one and made 3-4 nice casts then bam backlash. All day. I can go days on end with a spinner and never have that problem . No , you aren’t the only one.
