It's almost time to started getting potatoes in the ground.

Homegrown red potatoes will make you look at the potato in a whole new way.

Our greenhouse is starting to pop up.

Had a good yield of G90 sweet corn last year. Planted Easter Sunday afternoon (Yes, was a little late). Plan on planting Mid-Late March this year. This is a fun time of the year

I'm going GMO this year with my sweet corn. After battling the corn ear worms for years, I'm giving in.

It's costing a pretty penny, but if they yield like I want without the bug pressure, it'll be worth it.

Everything I've read says to use clear plastic. Although, even though the package said clear, the one I have on there isn't completely transparent. Still pretty translucent, just hard to tell from the photo.

Yes, I remember reading about that when we were trying to do organic farming and I've used it for flower beds. The temperature will get extremely high under it.

Obsession is way too expensive for my budget

ETA: A sharp knife at the right angle and you wont even notice the bugs even existed

I put the plastic down in August, but in December I replaced it cause it was getting kind of nasty. I probably should’ve just gone with black during the winter. At this point I’m just trying to keep trash out until I plant though. I think I achieved the desired effect by the time October rolled around.

I just go buy my plants at Petrus when I'm ready to plant. I've never tried indoor gardening or planting from seed - I'm too lazy for that.

Are you in Louisiana? Can you show more of your greenhouse and how it's set up?

Convertedtiger, do you use a potato box or do you just plant in the soil in rows?

I buy transplants as well except for a few heirlooms.

I tried my hand at planting seeds this year. Everything is very leggy so hopefully it will produce or even survive. I didn't have enough lights but I didnt want to buy more lights.

Lesson learned: have the correct lights.

Looking at the long term forecast I don't see a cold front anywhere. Do I dare plant early?

I cleaned mine out two weeks ago. I have two 4 x 10 foot plots adjacent to my man/garage cave. Now little plants are starting to pop up. Gonna plant next month.

I planted a couple of cucumber plants that I had started a few weeks ago. I also bought some green bean seeds and planted those as well.

This is my first time trying to grow from seeds. I think I've got everything I need. Will a big fluorescent light be enough for them until they sprout?

If you're in South Louisiana you can start them in plastic cups outside because it's so warm right now. But, a warming mat works well.

Brutal for us too - lost 1 lemon, 2 oranges, 1 grapefruit & 2 large bottlebrush trees. Pretty bummed about it - they were all 10 years old (other than the lemon) and very productive

I've heard of some of these citrus trees miraculously coming back. Are they for sure dead?
