My wife got me a 17.6 cu ft liberty safe this week.

While it is a great gift it is 36" wide, 24" deep and 61" tall so it is incredibly heavy and awkward.

Any tips on how to move it and install it in the closet?

I used a bunch of wooden dowels and some old carpet.

Oh and a few friends to move mine.

Just get it on top of like 10 or so dowels and it'll roll easily on tile, wood, or concrete.

We used an old piece of carpet to slide it across carpet.

Rent an appliance or refrigerator dolly.

Dowel rods for rolling sound like a winner too.

PVC would work, but I'd worry one might shoot out from under there.

You'll need a case of beer to lure 2-3 buddies as well.

Beer remains on ice until job complete

I'm terrified of my arm snapping when trying to use those. Its like putting a force on your forearm in a direction your forearm isn't supposed to go if that makes sense.

One of those unfounded fears, kind of like people being afraid of clowns or something.

Furniture dolly works well. Put one on each side of it and roll as far as you can. This will require help in leaning the safe back far enough so as to not turn it over and still put the furniture dolly under it.

A truck with a lift gate works wonders if you have to transport one.

I've moved mine in and out (post flood) of my house. It's the same size. Dolly with 3 helpers. It's a bitch but easily doable. Just watch the corners

My safe is 800lbs. Should I just call the safe company?

Take the door off. Lighten it up.

Also couple folks and furniture dolled works.

Those straps won't work on that size safe unless you are stupid cocktail strong

Last time I called, they wanted $500 to move a safe.

One or two of these guys will move it with surprisingly little effort.

Take the door off of it if you can. I can take the door off of mine when I move it then I use an appliance dolly.

Appliance dolly and 6 pieces of 1/2" pvc. I have moved mine twice like this. If you have to go over thresholds you can use the dolly or bigger diameter pvc. Just take your time, it's really not that bad.

Edit to say props to the wife, she sounds like a keeper.
