I've saved myself a bloodtrail with a 2nd shot quite a few times.
Pretty good chance if you hear only one shot, it wasn't me. My deer almost always have more than one hole in them

Cuz you used an obsolete rifle for shot #1. That, or you just can't shoot.

Nah. I can shoot well enough. I have a pretty good batting average.
If I think there's any remote chance that it might MAYBE get up I'm shooting it again. Bullets are cheap.

That's ok. I once killed a deer carrying only 3 arrows. I shot 7 times.
