I somewhat agree. A AR10 would have much more range, faster follow up shots, and more capacity. But a lever gun will still kill a deer just as dead.

Lever guns just render them mostly dead...

It's not obsolete though. It's no more obsolete than a bolt gun. JMO.

You can't really beat a lever gun for brush hunting, again JMO.

Obsolete like a 30 year old van. It will still get you around to try to give away candy. But a newer model will get you around with air conditioner blowing.

It's beautiful. Love me some lever action. Functionality aside.

Everything beats a lever gun for any kind of hunting. Especially since no other gun will actually need a follow up shot.

Just like single shot, pump, o/e, and sxs shotguns are.

I wouldn't call them obsolete, although there have been improved designs.

So why hunt with anything other than a single shot?

Correct. AR's, glocks, and semi auto shotguns should be the only thing used nowadays. To not be obsolete.

I'm an obsolete hunter/shooter then. I don't own a glock, semi auto shotgun, or an AR.

I know a lot of guides and bush pilots who carry these.

Lever action must use round nose or polymer tipped ammo. Pointed tip would hit the primer of the round in front of it if rifle was ever dropped. Lever must also use rimmed cartridges. You'll never see lever in 9mm, 45 Auto, 30-06, .223, etc.

This may have been said, but there are magazine fed lever guns, so your statement is all encompassing.

There really isn't a good reason.

Multiple animals. It's a rare thing that the others don't haul arse after the first shot, I know, but nonetheless it's still possible to get a few in a group.
I once shot 3 hogs out of a group of about 12 with a lever 45/70. I would've only killed 1 if I had a single shot.

Didn't notice it as I was doing it. Later that night, it started hurting and I noticed a bruise that looked like someone smoked me with a baseball on my right shoulder.
