An old film reel from the 60's at the camp. People hunting and drinking beer and all kinds of really cool shite. It's an amazing video. Very few of the people in it are still around today.

I am sure it was mentioned already but where is this camp? They have taken some great deer over the years out there it seems.

We still have a blast there. The attendance isn't nearly what it used to be, but it's still an awesome place. We don't kill huge deer like that very often anymore. 15" wide 8 points usually win the big buck contest these days, but we still get pictures of some of those monsters lurking around back there. We don't have the man power or the dog power to get back there and get them anymore. Slickback shot at one of those huge sonuvabitches a few years ago.

that's not really what a hunting camp is about, imo

Truth. If that was the case at our camp, I wouldn't even think about going

I agree. We never killed anything bigger than a 16" inside 11 pt at our old lease but man that place was heaven. Hunting leases are more about drinking, eating and bull shitting than killin IMO.

I completely respectfully disagree (if you are saying you wouldnt be in a camp that doesnt have big deer, I may have misunderstood )

It just all depends on where you hunt

Me, personally, I love to deer hunt in general and the thing that keeps me going in the shot. I love to put the cross hairs on the side and squeeze the trigger. I'm not going to shoot every deer I see but I enjoy being able to decide for myself if I want to take a deer or not and not have to worry about being ridiculed for shoot a deer that wasnt big enough in someone else's opinion. We are definitely not lacking on any of that. If it was about killing deer we would have all quit by now

There were several years when we didn't kill shite. It's hard to not be a tight-knit group when it dates back this far though. Some of my great relatives that I never got a chance to know spent their lives in that little mosquito infested shite hole. I just hope it's still around for my kids to experience it.

no doubt, i would love to be a member of such a camp/club/lease, but if i enjoy they company, deer hunting is second priority. i would love to kill a world class whitetail, but i don't have any misconceived notions about doing so on the property i hunt.
