My brother in law was a member of a club around Pond, Ms back in the late 70's. When I was stationed at Keesler AFB, Ms, would drive over and hunt weekends with him and his co-workers. Mostly two brothers who have been on this lease forever. Had a camp similiar to this but was in town, not as remote. It was like 4 ft off the ground. I said why so high? One of the brothers said back in 73, the water was half way up the walls from the Mississippi flooding.

That was the beer of choice back in Dad's day. I don't want any part of being under that camp. Were ya'll fixing the water line?

Awesome pics, also makes you wish you could have recordings of all the stories that were told every season during these gatherings. Gotta love the family history.

Rumor has it they used to catch at least one rabbit every hunt. Never saw it myself though.

Some of those pictures remind me of my grandmothers old ranch in Arkansas and the camp she had there, when I was a kid in the late 60's and early 70's.

No. I didn't notice it Saturday if it was there.

I should be able to hunt a little opening weekend of muzzleloader.

Yea it's been there a few weeks. Pretty damn slick looking. And the water is drinkable

I'll probably be there that weekend. I don't think I'll be doing a whole lot of hunting in clinton this year. I'm lacking hard on saturday night drinkin buddies this year though.

That doesn't surprise me. I always had to my beagle on a leash otherwise she got tunnel vision once on a scent. And that never took long.
Ahhhhhh.....I miss her.

I love looking at old pictures like this. I don't know if it's their haircuts, clothes or something you see in their eyes, they all have a look like they can get through anything. What I call the "old school" look.

This thread is full of greatness. Back in the day before hunting became so commercial, no need for realtree, sentloc, and all the other gimmics, just when a man went out and put meat on the table. I have all my dad and grandpa's old hunting pics, wouldn't take anything for them

Me too. It's how most folks look on local hunts here still. Minus the high tech underwear.
