I have an older HK USP 40 that has been flawless and fits my hand better than the ruger and S&W that I own.

OP said he wants something a little on the small side, I think. Maybe a CZ 75 Compact (PCR, I think) would fit.

There are multiple models of it - black slide, silver slide, compact, full size, 5" slide, safety, no safety etc. I'd say get the basic full size (4") in black or stainless. If you insist on the compact that would be okay but it makes more sense to get the full size if you don't plan to conceal this gun.
