go to your local gun range and shoot them. Most gun ranges should have the 17 and the XDM.

Most say that the Glock 19 is the best all-around pistol made.

Me personally, I have a S&W 357 model 626 in my nightstand for "home defense".

The one that is most comfortable for you to shoot and that you shoot proficiently.

Go try them all and find the one that works for YOU.

Can't go wrong with any of your choices, but as others have said, it really comes down to which one fits you best and you're most proficient with.

Many ranges rent the Glocks and Springfields. It'll be hard to find a Sig to shoot unless you know someone with one...

But you need to shoot them before u make a decision.

I'm not sure there is a person alive that would pick the g17 over the p320 after holding each one and dry firing.

However, the aftermarket support is light years better on a g17.

Good observation and something to consider. I shoot most accurately with the g17 but like the way the SA XDM shoots better.

I have an XD (home defense and around the camp) and a G43 (carry). Love them both. All 3 of yours are good choices - go shoot them and see what you like best

I got a smith and Wesson M&P compact in 9mm. Bigger than the shield but not the full size. I like it a lot

Thats the first line. Dont lie. If you are aware of more than 1 intruder and you have time they are getting lots of 556 headed their way

I recently switched from .38spcl to 9mm for CC. Home defense I still use G23 in .40 cal. But if given time and the threat is greater than 1-2 perps Im grabbing the AR

I like the Glocks and I also have a Ruger 9mm and .357. Home defense best bet is still a sawed off 12ga with 00 buck

If doing nothing but sittin in a nightstand the sit is a great shooter but it hasn't quite proven to me about its reliability just yet to withstand the rigors and demand of carrying everyday. Not to knock on it at all because so far it has proven to be an amazing gun. Like I said if in a nightstand I would probably go with the 320. That being said I carry a 19 everyday

If you can try out a CZ P09 they are excellent guns. It also has a little brother the CZ P07. Ergonomics are great on these guns and they shoot very well. Do your research on them as well, I seriously don't think you can find a bad review.
