6.2 gas engine Ford or GM

Thinking of getting a new truck. Looking at getting one with a 6.2 gas engine for towing my camper. Would also be used as a daily driver. Any thoughts on the Ford or GM versions. Which would be best based on past experience by anyone who has had either.

If buying new: Ford only offers 6.2 in Super Duty. GM only offers 6.2 in half ton.
Obviously, the Super Duty will tow better, ride worse, last longer.
If buying used, Ford did offer the 6.2 in a few years of the F150. I had one and it was a hoss. The half ton frame and brakes limited the truck well before the motor did. I only put 65k miles on it, but they were gas and oil only miles.

If you meant GM 6.0 vs Ford 6.2, I'd pick Ford. The 2017 Super Dutys are insanely nice and are several steps ahead of anything Ram or GM has to offer. The 5.7/6.4, 6.0, and 6.2 are all silly reliable and offer plenty of power for most people. I'd pick one of the three based off looks and features alone.

The Ford 6.2L is a beast compared to the GM, sadly Ford doesn't make them anymore for the 1/2-ton trucks. Thought about finding one at a salvage yard and keeping it for a future build though.

What? Lol the GM has 420hp and 460lb-ft torque. I have it in my 1/2 ton and it's a beast compared to my buddies Ford 6.2L.

Stop being so biased and understand what he's saying. The 6.2 in the F250/350 is a beast compared to the GM 6.0. The GM 6.2, that only comes in highest packages, is a very nice and overpriced motor.

True and I love the 6.2 L94 in my 2010 Yukon too.
I think the point he's making is that with equal displacement, a 4 valve motor will almost always have more power than a 2 valve motor because it can move more air.
But if you really want to wake up a small block Chevy motor, it doesn't take much boost to get insane levels of power.

Even the 5.3s?
Definitely.
Go on Youtube and type in "supercharged 5.3 LS" and watch videos. Even with a modest 8-10 pounds of boost and a tune you can add a couple hundred horsepower.

Not trying to get that much power, thinking of running a tuner and adding intake though once my warranty runs out.

Yeah, it's heavily detuned on 87 octane in the the SD's but a reflash will have them eating the lunch of the GM 6.2L (which the numbers you cite require premium grade gas). The Ford 6.2L is NOT like the 5.4's, it has heads that can flow and plenty of bore to make great NA power.

Well I just know that my brother has a 2014 F-150 with the 6.2L. His is a stock truck and mine has a lift and 35r20 Nitto Trail Grapples which are heavy. I pull on him pretty good when we have raced and I still get better gas mileage. Stock GM 6.2L vs stock Ford 6.2L they were putting in their half tons, GM is hands down the better motor.

It's not, the Ford 6.2L is built with better parts and has a lot more potential than the GM 6.2L. Sorry, GM has bragging rights with V8's but not around the 6.2L Boss. Also, you have AFM which pretty much disqualifies you from anything as far as "better"...

I'll take the one with better horsepower, better torque, and better fuel mileage all day. They put it in the C7 vette for a reason.

I'll take the one with better potential, better parts, and let the limp-wristed worry about MPG's in a truck.
Nobody does parts-bin engineering better than GM, that much is certain.

ford 6.2 F250 = 12 mpg
GMC 6.2 1500 = 18 mph
GMC 6.0 2500 = 12 mpg
GMC 6.2 1500 = 18 mph
GMC 6.0 2500 = 12 mpg

Got a friend that has the 6.2 f250. He recently pulled a cobalt boat from north LA to bay st. louis at a staggering 7 MPG.

I moved from a GMC 1500 5.2 to an F250 6.2 for pulling my camper (now no longer have the camper thanks to August flood).
I've had my truck since 2014 and have put 150,000 miles on it with not a lick of problems out of it (knock on wood). I average 13-14 mpg, and more like 8-9 mpg when pulling the 8,500 LB camper.
Unfortunately I have no info to provide comparing to a GM with bigger gas motor, but I do love my truck.

if you need a 250/2500 then have to get the SD/HD.
You can tow just fine with the 3.5L v6 ecoboost in a f150. With the right axle ratio youd be able to tow most anything residential.
