So I'm buying a new handgun for that will be a CCW. I can't decide between that Walther PPS .40 or 9mm. What says the OT?

9, search the outdoor board and you will see many arguments on this and the troof why 9 wins.

Springfield Subcompact 9mm. Best CCW IMO.

Not a fan of .40. Either go up to .45 or stick with 9. That's just me though. The outdoor board is a much better place for answers.

9mm is cheaper to shoot. just don't be a bitch and buy both....

just kidding. I have a .40 and a 9mm. Will shoot both, but shoot the 9mm more. Carry the .40 more often though.

I carry it concealed ramrod, I'm 6'1" 145 and I don't have any issue with it. You sure you aren't confusing it with the ppk?

On another note how is brpd? I dropped my packet off the other day to test even though I already have a score.

yea i just dont like anything even that size on me. i usually just put my LCP in my front pocket. I do like the look of the PPS though. if that size fits you i would recommend the kel tec pf 9. probably half the price of the pps.

i dont know anything about brpd.

I like the 40 cause of the recoil which makes it fun to shoot compared to a nine.
It is a challenge to pop off a whole clip quickly with a 40, but thats the fun.

I'm 6'2", and I have kinda big hands, I went with a Glock 17 9mm and I love it. It's perfect for me

eta: Go on youtube and you can watch videos of people shooting different models to get an idea.

Springfield .40 subcompact here. The 9 has less recoil but I like the .40 better.

No clear answer, many opinions and variables, including the performance of different rounds/loads in both calibers.

Basically .40 is supposed to be the perfect balance between expansion and penetration, but some say it does neither well.

The 9 is small, but in addition to other benefits from its smaller size (capacity, weight, recoil) it also tends to penetrate better although possibly with less expansion.

I own two .40s, I like .40 although I can see the basis for preferring 9. Ultimately IMO the differences are negligible and go with what you like.

who would want it to be difficult to unload a whole clip on their CCW?

Where in my post did I say I don't shoot the .40 often? All I said is that I shoot the 9mm more than the .40. When I go to the range I will shoot about 100 rounds out of the .40 versus 250-200 out of the 9mm.

Got a Sig P250 .45 cal and love it, use it as CCW all the time, BR Police Supply has the 511 holster shirt and I have no problems at all. I do have the full size P250 not the compact.

Good thing about this weapon is its convertible,

9mm, 357, .40 and .45

I like the 40, but the 9mm has better options for CCW, smaller framed guns.

Both will get the job done with a well placed bullet.
