Took my 16 year old son to a 3D shoot this weekend at Waddill Park on Flannery in Baton Rouge. We enjoyed it and recommend any one who hasn't tried shooting foam deer give it a try. Anyways I'm trying to find out about any clubs or sites in and around Louisiana that might have some shoots scheduled. TIA
ETA Anyone know directions to Aimwell range near Jonesville
Tangi Schedule @ Waddill, BR
NELAA Schedule
Island Hilltop Calendar
Schedule @ Bayou Bucks
ETA link

they were a real blast about 25 years ago when a bunch of us that had mix matched arrows, shitty sights, or, maybe no sight at all, got into it. In addition to "novice", "bowhunter", "pro", etc.,,,I wanted to start our own division called "Redneck, 18 Yards And A Pile Of Corn"..
the first few tournaments i entered, i would pick up bent and abandoned arrows on the course, just to finish..

I got into 3D pretty big when I was young. It's a lot of fun and definitely helps your hunting skills. I shot at a couple of clubs in LA back then but I can't remember the name of them.

I shot tournaments growing up until about the time I got in high school. Then I gave it up to go after live targets with my DNA rifle

i had never seen some of those targets, and certainly not at that far... Every time I would walk up on that big arse elk on a pipeline at 40 yards, I would "kneecap him"...

I remember when McKenzie first started making the small deer target. Funny guys that set up the shoots would put them out in the open with nothing to use as a reference. Most people thought they were 15 yards farther away than they actually were.

You know you're having a bad day when you knee cap the elk and the shooter behind you still hits your arrow.

I've been adding links as I find/remember archery clubs. If you know of any I missed please post them and I'll try to add them to my list. TIA

I'm assuming these are all in S. La.? I dont know of any here in NWLA but if anybody does I'd be interested in shooting there.

One of the ones I used to shoot was called Rolling Hills and it was somewhere just across the LA line, south of McComb MS, if I remember correctly. That was a long time ago though and it may not exist anymore.

Red River Bowmen used to shoot off Loop 220 near Shreveport but I can't find a schedule.
ETA-NELA has some near north central Louisiana I think near Ruston and Farmerville IIRC. Also used to have some in Marshal/Longview Texas area

I've been shooting off and on since '92 and this weekend I saw something I'd have sworn would never happen if asked about it 5 years ago.
We had a crossbow shooter join in our group. He was an older guy that couldn't shoot a bow comfortably any longer. I'm not sure if there was a classification or not as he didn't compete nor kept a score card but he shot every target. I didn't find the crossbow to be as fast or as quiet as our bows. Inside 50 yards I can shoot my bow better than I can free hand my rifle(also practice less with my rifle). Only thing is he doesn't have to draw his bow when the deer come in.
