What do y'all think of this barrel? Bought one a week ago and love it. Gun is a CVA Elite Stalker

I shoot this in a Mauser action rifle. Oldest killed a buck the other day at 200 yards....didn't take a step...as usual. Great deer round as long as you're shooting under 300 yards. I shoot the Remington 200 grain .

I bought this as well. My brother has a .444. I was shocked that the .35 had way more recoil than the .444

I have a Thompson Center Pro Hunter 35 Whelen. It drops about 8 inches at 300 yards, so yeah, I like it.

I have the H&R and other than initial sighting in has been dead on accurate.

The .35 is going to have more "snappy" recoil. It's a high velocity cartridge where the .444 is a rainbow round.

This. Took me 9 shots to finally get it where I wanted it.

I also have the Whelen in the Elite Stalker.

Powerful round but had issues holding zero due to scope mounts. My scope mount actually cracked and broke off. I don't know if if the screw was ratcheded too tight or just a crappy mount.

Now have a single mount scope and rings and no problems with the mount moving at this time.

Really like the gun, too. Easy to manuever and shoulder in the stand due to the length. Have been looking for a .308 to possibly add to the collection.

The mounts that come with the Elite Stalkers are crap. The rep said that plenty of people have complained about them so it's best to replace it with a better mount from the start.

35 Whelen is a great cartridge. I am currently shooting a load from Double Tap.

.35 Whelen 180gr. Barnes TTSX Lead Free

The Barnes TSX bullet flies flat and gives you excellent penetration. A good load for deer, antelope and bear. This load flies flatter than any 35 Whelen ever made to 500yds.

Exterior Ballistics: 200yd. zero
100yds - 1.6" high 2750fps / 3021ft/lbs
200yds - zeroed 2513fps / 2524ft/lbs
300yds - 7.1" low 2290fps / 2096ft/lbs
400yds - 20.8" low 2079fps / 1727ft/lbs
500yds - 42.4" low 1878fps / 1410ft/lbs

Caliber : .35 Whelen

Bullet : 180gr Barnes TTSX

Ballistics : 3000fps - 3597 ft./lbs. - 24.0" bbl. Rem 700

35 Whelen 180 gr

I shoot Barnes TTSX 165 out of my 300 wm. I like them a lot. I'm going to load some 180s for the 300 and 200s for the 35. I'm shooting some Hornady's a friend loaded right now. They're pretty good, but I'll be interested to see how the Barnes compare.
