Just curious if anyone on here has experience with the baumalight mp360 or similar mulcher for tractors. Been really considering one as I have so much brush to clear from lanes and road sides. Also thinking I could start a side hustle with it to offset some costs. Thoughts/opinions? If I hired someone to do everything I want it would be several times more than the attachment cost and be in my own time table.

Seems like something to shorten the life of your tractor. I know they are hard on the skid steers...

My neck hurts just looking at that thing! Lol

Never seen one on tractor, likely reason above is they would be very hard on your rig

That, the price, and having to turn around the whole time using one is why I don’t have one. If you have the cash and dont plan on using it for huge jobs, it seems like a bad arse attachment.

Lots of YouTube reviews on them, and they seem pretty positive.

I would look around in your area a little harder before you tell the wife you’ll be able to offset the cost by doing work with it on the side. In mine I can throw a rock and hit a guy with a skid steer and a mulcher who needs work. If you have a lot of land it probably will pay off eventually, but a spray rig is cheaper than all the above.

I have logged a few dozen hours now with a rotary mulcher on a skid steer and it’s not something I would want to do with a rear implement, it’s tricky enough with the thing in front of you and joysticks. Another thing to consider is how high a 3pt hitch can lift, I could bush hog most stuff waist high, a mulcher shines where you can lift it and go straight at it, as opposed to having to back into a thicket and have limbs hitting you in the face before you find the trunk.

I have damn near destroyed my rotary cutter lifting and backing into the brush. I will most likely end up buying it just for myself as I’d probably pay someone easily $20k by the time I get everything done that I would like as most of it is stuff I would need to layout as I go making trails etc. I already have a 3-point stump grinder so working in reverse isn’t an issue plus the HST transmission makes that easy. Already have $300k+ invested out there what’s another $10k at this point I’ll just say it fast..

There are several companies that will come out but I have yet to find anyone that rents skid steer mulchers.

Maybe consider adding a front hitch and PTO along with the mulcher?

They don’t rent them cause even good operators go through hoses like toilet paper and generally tear up the machine, just par for the course.

I don’t know if it’s an option but like bigger bear said if they make one that mounted on your FEL and ran on hydraulics that would be ideal, even if you don’t have high flow you can still get a lot done with a smaller one, but having the ability to lift it in front of you is big.

Your comment seems to be the consensus as to why no one rents them they seem to always be broken either cutting teeth, hyd hoses etc.hydraulic versions seem to be hell on most skid steers. I have a 3 function valve for my grapple but I don’t think my machine has enough flow to mount a fel style.
Pto style seems to have less moving parts has a slip clutch gear box, replaceable Kevlar drive belt along with bolt on teeth. Though I read the manual and seems teeth need replacing fairly often depending on severity of the usage.

Bayou, how does that stump grinder perform on your tractor, and what size tractor? I have 10-15 stumps I need to get rid of but I’m of the mindset if I can buy an implement for almost what I pay someone else to do it I would rather do that. Is it rough on your tractor?

Stump grinder works very well small pine stumps say 15” diameter gone in minutes even did a massive oak stump in an hour or so. Paid $2,500 for mine it’s a woodland mills. But I bought timber land that has thousands of stumps left from the select cutting.

Eh, I’d rather own it so I can remove stumps any time a tree falls without having to rent one.

I don’t have thousands but enough right now and seems we are always losing trees. Thanks for that info, I’m going to look into it. I was mainly worried about it beating the hell out of the tractor.

It will try to shake you pretty good if you take too big of a bite. Also hst is the way to go take 2” or so bites and crawl very slowly. It will also get about 10-11” below grade. Still on my first set of teeth and probably did about 50 pine stumps to clear the area my barn now sits plus random things around my home and the huge oak at our church. Amazing how many people suddenly need stumps ground once you get one.

The only way I'd ever have a mulcher on a tractor is on one of these tractors

Tractors lack the flow and cooling.
