Agreed. I dont understand why this is a marked improvement over an M4 with good bullets. If you do need more horsepower, is all of this worth much more than a shortened M14 in 7.62 or an AR10 in 7.62? You've already got a bazillion rounds of that laying around and probably a bazillion rifles chambered for it.

On the surface I really hate the whole idea of it. It seems like an excuse to piss away a gazillion taxpayer dollars.

My thoughts exactly, went away from the m14 for weight and recoil, guess they are going full circle.

I'm not excited. For hunting purposes (I have no military purposes of any of my guns), I don't see any advantages it has over a number of other existing rounds.

This can be said of most every new cartridge that comes out. They all offer some new niche, but is it really worth diluting the pool that much more?

HaHa! So true. When it comes to new rounds, I'm kinda like that old Shania Twain song, "That Don't Impress Me Much."

The ballistics of the round at distance is impressive. I wouldn’t want it for a military weapon (give me the M4 for a vast majority of grunt work)….however the power it packs at 1,000m and lack of drop…..I could be really dangerous for Elk or mountain game.

80,000 PSI sounds like guns parts waiting to break.

2 piece case sounds like a patented money-grab and cases and gun parts waiting to break.

Personally, I'm more interested in the 277 Wolverine. I wish it had gotten more support at the SAAMI level.

If it was some company like Colt, Ruger or what not I would agree. But brands like Sig, H&K etc….make some remarkable weapons. The fact that they made the “Spear” with modular parts to replace easily tells me that identified this issue during their 10,000 round tests. But to have the Sig Cross as a bolt action would be an ideal weapon for long range and bigger game.
