It was officially adopted as a United States military bolt-action rifle on June 19, 1903, and saw service in World War I. It was officially replaced as the standard infantry rifle by the faster firing semi-automatic 8 round M1 Garand starting in 1937. However, the M1903 Springfield remained in service as a standard-issue infantry rifle during World War II, since the U.S. entered the war without sufficient M1 rifles to arm all troops. It also remained in service as a sniper rifle during World War II, the Korean War, and even in the early stages of the Vietnam War. It remains popular as a civilian firearm, historic collector's piece, and as a military drill rifle.
Note #1 - This particular group of rifles feature the original U.S. military contract manufactured G.I. barrels. These barrels were purchased as surplus new in the wrap and were never utilized in building or replacing a rifle barrel during the years that these rifles saw service. The original G.I. barrel added to the production cost of these rifles but also adds value as a collector's piece.
Note #2 - These rifles will either be the 1903 or the 1903 / A3 designation depending on the year of manufacture. For purposes of selling them under this SKU we make no distinction between the 2 models. These rifles have been professionally refurbished and are in very good to excellent surplus condition.
Fun Fact - The scoped sniper variation of this rifle was highlighted on the big screen by actor Barry Pepper's character, Private Daniel Jackson, as the platoon sniper in the WWII film Saving Private Ryan.

I used to have a C&R license 10 years ago. Really easy to get. You can have C&R eligible guns shipped straight to your door. Most C&R guns have to be at least 50 years old. You are required to keep a tally book of all of your transactions. You aren’t supposed to sell the guns to purely make a profit but can sell to further your collection.

Slash, I have no idea. I've never been to that site before. Maybe bookmark it and check every so often. I know AimSurplus has decent LE trade ins, but they never have any Sigs (229 and 226) in stock
I got a hell of a deal last year on aimsurplus. A P320 full size with a Romeo X optic for $525 landed. Now they sell them with a Romeo 1 Pro. I sold the pistol for $550 and put the dot on another Sig I had
