Never owned a pickup but looking for one now. Thoughts on the 2022 Silverado? Things to look out for?
Thanks in advance.

Mileage would be helpful to know, 2wd/4wd, engine, unless you want some blind-arse advice...

My 2017 Silverado bought new had 3 common problems I found out about. I read over and over how the transmission would fail around 100 k. I am at 110,000 and still good. The ac condensers fail due to not enough weld so they crack and loose all Freon. Mine did. $1,800 The 3rd common problem is the hydronic/electric lifters that let the engine shift from V8 to V4 can fail and cause major engine damage. I bought a device that plugs into the diagnostic connector and keeps it in V8 mode all the time so lifters won’t fail. I love my truck but the thing I hate most is it rides rough. Every brand of truck has its problems. My next truck will be a Chevy

Stay away from that engine. It has AFM and is a ticking time bomb with the crappy lifter design, unless the PO disabled all of that and had the lifters replaced. Even if you disable AFM, the actual design of the lifters themselves are prone to failure over time.

The lifter problem was the last issue on mine. After the transmission, power steering, and front end went to shite.

I’d stay away unless you have deep pockets.

if you don't need a ton of power, find a preowned ford f150 with the 2.7 ecoboost thats in your budget.

Just traded my 22 Silverado in

Stranded me twice in 3 months
High pressure fuel pump went bad and dumped fuel all in my driveway
The fuel pump module went out left me stuck with no way to get it in neutral…

Only 70k miles

Just a matter of time before something else went out

5pernt 3 is a gutless womder that can barely get out of its way.
Had 2 (99/05) and neither could hold my 5.4’s ball sack (265,000!.
88,000 on an 2018 3.5 f150 and 95,000 on a 2020 2.7 f150 and both have more torque on a bad day than my 5.3’s had.

I have a 2020 1500 Silverado 4x4 - RST. About 85K miles. I have not done a lot of repairs but the couple I have done were expensive and really sucked

Transmission at 70K - 6K repair

Front wheel bearing just a few weeks back. $1200. Had to be towed

I had a 2004 Tahoe before this that I had for 15 years. I will say that this truck is no were near the quality of vehicle as my Tahoe was

I like th truck. Drives nice, plenty of power but honestly, I think its about to start falling apart even though I baby it. Im probably about to trade it for a 2500
