Motor won’t crank
Nothing would happen when i tried to start the motor recently. Had a bad ground. Replaced the ground. Now it won’t crank. Had it running a month ago. Changed the carb less than 6 months ago. Only use ethanol-free gas. Try to run it every two weeks. Sat for a month. Now this. Is the motor locked up?
Update page 2

Sounds like weak battery to me

Probably not. Try to turn it with a wrench.

Brand new battery (5/22) 12.85V. Replaced a very old battery when I replaced the ground wire. Ground wire was from 2008 I assume.

Does the pinion engage and then fail to turn the engine?
Brand new batteries CAN be bad, but that's not likely.
Order of things you should check:
Does the starter do anything at all? If the answer is no, check things like kill switch, neutral switch, etc. Something is probably preventing the start circuit from closing.
Starter does stuff but just doesn't spin engine, either a bad battery, or engine is hydrolocked or seized up. Neither is the end of the world, those engines are super cheap to pull apart and put back together.

Check you voltage on the battery and amperage, how old is the battery.
If good check the starter solenoid by jumping across it and seeing if it turns over.

More to the story. I pulled the starter the day before and tested it. Both the ignition and starter work. I then traced the bad ground. I did some research. Could it be hydrolocked? Can I pull the plug and try to start it? Im pretty handy and am learning as I go.

If its hydrolocked you could bend a rod cranking it.
TRY TO TURN THE DAMN THING WITH A WRENCH NOT THE STARTER DAMNIT
It should turn pretty easily.

A motor that was running a month ago with a new battery and you working on the wiring says go back and check your wiring.
I doubt it’s hydrolocked or bad crank or anything catastrophic.
Just keep eliminating and working your way back.
Pull a plug and try to roll it over.
Put it in gear and try to turn the prop will be some more information.
But I’m betting on bad connections due to it having just run last month and no type of over heating oil loss is something like that.

It wasn’t doing anything until I changed the ground lead.

Sounds like a short between the start button and ground

If it's hydrolocked. Take out the spark plug(s) and try to start it. You will know with quickness if it was hyrolocked due the water or gas coming out of the spark plug hole(s).

What do you mean “it wouldn’t do anything until you changed the ground”?
Try to get it ti fire up with starter fluid. If so, you have a gummed up carburetor.

What actually happens when you turn the key? A click? Absolutely nothing? Does it crank but not start?

There is a video in the original post. Now sure y’all can see it. Tries to turnover once then nothing.

Any fuses in the start circuit? If not, a bad connection could have given up the ghost creating an open.

I had a similar sound to my Gatortail one time. Ended up being the little flat quick disconnect on the starter solenoid. This is wire that goes from key switch to starter. It had fell off, but was making slight contact giving the starter a few volts to make clicking sound.
As others said, engage clutch and turn motor by hand with plugs out to see if locked up. I highly doubt that’s case. If nothing said before works and motor isn’t locked up, put the key switch in on position and jump from incoming red from battery to little disconnect I mentioned above. If motor fires up, that means you have wiring problem somewhere in your key switch system.
