I have a '79 CJ7 that needs a little cosmetic work: new seat bracket, connect horn, new back seat, tighten ebrake, maybe new alternator. Is there a place in BR that would be better to take this to than a jeep dealership to get these type things done?

You should be able to look at it for a few and do most of that stuff yourself...especially a connecting the horn, Ebrake, and alternator....those are kind of routine.

your right, I prob can, but a new seat bracket will require drilling into the body. I didn't really want to do that, and that is the main thing I want done. I figured if I brought it somewhere to do that, I would give them a list of all the little things, and they could knock it out in a day or two no problem.

I had a 79 CJ7 once. Sold it before I moved from TN to AL. Hate that I had to get rid of it. Was getting ready to do an engine swap on it.

There is a place called highlifter in baton rouge
that does work on old cj's and broncos.
I think they used to be off airline hwy not far from Land Rover place.

All that work you want to do sounds extremely expensive and very time-consuming. Why don't you just let me take it off of your hands for....say... tree-fitty?

I used to work for Phil in college, very knowledgable and passionate about all Jeeps especially CJ's.

Light line of BR is another option, Lionel was working there last I talked to him (was at Searcher's).

I trust both of them, and hard to go wrong with either.

I worked there and wouldn't ever buy anything or get anything done there. Ricky is an a-hole and their prices are sky high.

Lionel is the one with the face scar? Wonder why someone would make that move

Dealership is going to rape you. Best to find a small shop and get a quote price up front.

Or, buy parts online and have a mechanic you know and trust do the work for you. What you are asking to have done, any competent mechanic should easily be able to do. Speciality shops and dealerships can get $$$. Money may not be a factor for you, though.

That's him.

I know he sold cars at Ralph Sellers for a while, and I don't know many people who actually like being a car salesman. Phil might not have had a spot when he left the dealership. I don't think there was any bad blood.

Yeah, I haven't been over there in probably 5 years. Was extremely helpful on my Tacoma though, and fixed a complicated frame problem I had
