Without thier momma, maybe coyote or bobcat will get them.

Good deal.

I ended up seeing over 20 deer. One of the guys in our group killed a decent 7. We are preparing supper now that will include fresh heart as an appetizer. I’ve decided I’m going to make one more hunt in the morning.

I think so, great weather after days of bad rain and the rut in full swing, glad to see so many deer on the ground

I shot a decent 10 point this morning while I was reading this thread. Can't post pics.

rut in full swing

Ours is one of the earliest in LA. it was over the week before Thanksgiving.

I usually hunt hard until mid-Dec then get depressed when everyone else is really getting started.

Not fair to you either. Get rut when it’s still so hot and humid in LA

No need to get depressed. The 2nd and 3rd rut can be much better than the initial rut. Bucks have to compete more. Calling is typically more effective, too. I hunt W of Houston and our main rut is in mid-late Oct. It is usually good again at thanksgiving and then again at Christmas. The 10pt I shot today was killed by a grunt call. He was pushing a group (10 or 12) of doe and his curiosity got him got.
