We usually medal in skeet, don't we?
Almost exclusively because of Vince Hancock who has three golds.

Todd bender GOAT
My old man used to compete against bender. Think my dad’s personal best is roughly 250 in a row. Bender would go a full year without missing….

That’s American Skeet. COMPLETELY DIFFERENT game. American skeet is like playing on rookie compared to International
Posted on 7/31/24 at 7:12 pm to IHitthaLONGBALL
Who cares about anything international once there is an American version
I’ll say again, Todd Bender GOAT
If international skeet had any presences at all in this country Bender would have dominated, but it simply doesn’t have any foothold here

Definitely will have to agree to disagree
I have been around Mr. Todd more times than I can count. Nobody in the world had more understanding and control of a shotgun than that man. It was insane
Hit 99.97% of every target he ever shot at

Nah they don't hold guns correctly

Didn't Kim Rhode retire after Tokyo? She had been representing the US for over a decade. It's hard to develop all the Jaxxsons and Makenzzies into good shooters when half the country hates the core element of the sport. It feels like Gen X was the last generation that had that old school upbringing (Jr marksman programs, the NRA pushing the sport, and gun control people viewed by society as nutcases).

quote:. She did, but in all honesty she shouldn’t have made it to Tokyo. Her past history had a lot to do with her being selected in 2020 and not her results leading up to it. The youth shooting movement is honestly probably stronger now than ever before. Between 4-H shooting sports, SCTP,USA shooting and ACUI at the collegiate level there are multiple avenues for kids to get involved.

Now the air rifle and air pistol stuff I couldn’t tell you anything about. shite just seems kinda dorky. IPSC getting in with the Olympics would be far more entertaining that watching Asians in weighted suits shoot pellet guns.

This sums up what I have been saying, the US gun enthusiasts have very little interest in precision shooting. They also have very little interest in air guns or rimfire .22.

The Umarex stuff is probably where the small bore shooting lands. That dorky stuff is the one thing that is capturing the youth of today. There's a ton of politics that factor in too but doesn't belong here.
My kids grew up target shooting. When they were younger we'd make it fun by taping together trading cards of Packers (Bears household) and they'd have 20 small targets to hit. The plinking is usually reserved for the basement with air pistols and such.

It's coming on USA right now.
