These athletes are in their prime and you waste not showcasing that talent more often
I realize you have worlds as well but why not find some permanent host sites and do it more often

The ancient Greeks did it every 4 years, so we have to too.

Well, the Winter Olympics are now filling the two year role.

As much as I like the Olympics I like every 4 years. Makes it more special.

I think the rarity is one of the things that makes the Olympics compelling. I do think they could do a better job making the in between competitions more interesting.

World Championships do not seem to get traction in the U.S.

We currently alternate winter and summer, so we currently have Olympics every two years. If we increased both frequencies to every two years, that would mean we would have Olympics every year. I think that would be too frequently.

Didn’t know Rodger goodell posted here. Don’t frick up a good thing by doing it too frequently. It’s ok to have rarity.

Why every 2 years, might as well make it an annual event.

Once every 4 years is part of what makes it a great event. If you have it too often, it would get the same coverage that the world championships get every year.

Don't stop there. Just make it once a month like UFC.

I think the rarity is part of the allure and drama. We watch knowing that for a lot of these athletes this is their ONE legit chance for glory. In some cases, they literally have this ONE 10 second race, 1 minute swim, etc that basically defines career success or failure. The stakes and intensity are as high as it gets.

World championships are just as prestigious, generally. They are every year. I think the current system is good. I would like to see the Olympics, at least the Summer Olympics, in the US permanently (after watching how fewer and fewer places want to host).

That would also lessen the Olympics. If you look at the locations you'll notice that we've seen a 12 year cycle of Western Hemisphere-Europe-SE Asia develop. The US/Canada could handle it here, the EU could hold them in several countries, China/Japan/Australia in SE Asia.

Frankly I don't know why anyone would want to change something that isn't broken. If anything they need to look at the opening/closing ceremony. I've been watching the 2012 closing ceremony the past few nights...I forgot how great it was. None of this faceless man and athletes boating down the river. And they stayed out of religion (unlike this fruit doing both ceremonies in Paris).
