Alfred’s much better at the 100. I think even her semi time beat Sha’carri’s final.
She's the reigning 60M indoor world champ, too. Her specialty is the start. That's why it was so so shocking how easily y Gabby won the 200. At the turn, she was already smoking Alfred.
I have to believe all the 100 heats & final. Plus the 20p heats affected her, while Gabby was fresh as a daisy for the 200.
Canr wait to see the 4x100 relay. USA is going to field Shacarri, Thomas, Jefferson and Brown?.. I assume Gabby will run the second leg turn? Then Shacarri as anchor?

He cut Hocker off at turn but then went out wide to stick by Kerr and opened it up for Hocker. He was going for the world record but he 100% forgot about Hocker to focus on Kerr. Mental fatigue played a part.

That was more fatigue than anything. You don’t make that move outside on the final stretch for anyone, any reason ever. He was tired and had a mental lapse.

I would think they’ll go TT Terry at the end again, Melissa will start, and Gabby will run the second leg, but I wouldn’t mind Sha’Carri finishing it with Brittany running the 3rd leg.

Fisher and Graham Blanks (defending ncaa xc champ from Harvard) through to the finals in the 5k. Wonder what happened to adbi nur.

Yeah looking at results he got dead last in a pretty slow race. I wonder what's up

Looks like carnage happened

Does anybody know what the men’s 4x100 team will look like?

Why would you have Gabby in the 2nd leg and not the 3rd. As a strong 200m runner, she is probably the best amongst the group on the curve. Richardson needs to on one of the straight runs (2nd or anchor). With her top end speed and the way she can run people down if anyone has the lead; I would think anchor is her best position.

Was it fatigue or lack of respect for Hocker? As you said, he was focused on Kerr, and the intro leading to the replay made me believe he considered Kerr to be his only legit opponent.
I thought the kickout by Jakob was to try to block Kerr and make him take a wider approach hoping to expend more energy. He had to know he did not have much left in the tank at that point and wouldn't have that final push in him. Crazy part is I am pretty sure the top 4, top 3 definitely did, all broke the previous OR.

Isn’t the 2nd leg technically the longest leg? I feel like most teams run their best 200m runner there.

Good call, wasn't even thinking about this and was more focused on the turn. Definitely see your point with having your best 200m runner on the 2nd, then your bronze medal 200m runner on that 3rd leg/anchor. I think that would end up with Richardson as the anchor, because you don't want her coming out of the blocks.

Gabby will run 3rd because they will want her running the curve. She's the best curve runner in the world by a wide margin. That's where she usually runs in the relays.
I think the order for the women will be Mellisa Jefferson, TeeTee, Gabby, Shacarri

I imagine it was this combined with wanting to beat Kerr. Jakob kind of gave some indication after the race in comments that he was more focused on Kerr.
He also ran out of gas a bit after pushing that pace.

Agreed. You want your 200m specialist running the curve.

Its crazy how close Nuguse was to getting silver.
Kerr had no idea he coming on the outside. Once Kerr knew he wasn't going to catch Hocker, he let up without knowing Nuguse was coming hard
What a race

Right? If he’s about an inch thicker in his chest he leans Kerr out. But that guy has been skinny and lanky all of his life.
Any of that Top 4, using slightly different tactics, could have won that race.

Nuguse saved the olympics for OAC. No other member of top group in the US made a final and more than half the team is injured.

Ok, I can understand that.
I think I just remember Allyson Felix running 2nd so I was going off that.
