We haven’t actually had an American win the mens 100 m without some ties to doping since Jim Hines in 1968. Been a while.

Why? Its not like the US have been chocking in this event. Aside from runners accused of not being clean, 3 of those were won by Bolt, and US has medaled in every race including some great runs.
The US getting 1 or 2 medals in the 100 would be amazing, even if one isn't gold. Now the 200 is a whole other deal and would be disappointing if Lyles doesn't win that.
