quote:I mean he's not just an all-star, he's one of the greatest players of all time, in his prime. And he's on a team full of quality players, who probably have a lot of experience playing together, under FIBA rules, and they were doing their part, shooting lights out for 3/4ths of the game. That was the perfect recipe for beating a better overall team, and they almost did it. But they also had an advantage of playing them 2 times in the last 3ish weeks. Despite getting blown out by 26 both times, just like we see in NBA series, it's hard to blow a team out 3 times in a row.
It's still a team full of NBA all-stars playing a team with one.

Glad to win but was honestly looking forward to the LeBronze nickname gloss for the rest of time. Lebron would never live a loss there down. That would have haunted him for the rest of his life.

Personally, I think we destroy France.

Finished the game and came to browse the thread. Went how I expected. Not sure which makes me happier watching the US win or the America haters getting dunked on. Who am I kidding I don't give two shits about people that get hard ons rooting against the US compared to a US win.
Likewise. If that win didn't give you that feeling you're an anti American miserable bitch, period.

In your view, how exactly does this team express the American spirit and advance American values?

Can we all agree how overrated Kerr is as a coach
No. Of course you’re the moron that suggested that Katie Ledecky should call it a career after she settled for a bronze medal in her first race

So...you can't express how this team exhibits American pride and advances American values? Or...what?

I'm just hoping you aren't taking the fact that they won too hard
Or that the US is leading the medal count
Though olympic games for you

quote:Yeah. And look at 2008. USA beat Spain by 37 points in the group stage, but Spain was within 4 points with about 2 minutes to go in the Final. And although they didn't play Spain in the group stage, Spain lost 2 games, and only had a +5 points differential per game heading into the final, compared to USA's 35.7 point per game differential. And USA was only up by 1 heading into the 4th quarter. Sometimes teams just have more favorable matchup, and it's pretty clear that Spain had it inside with the Gasol brother and Ibaka.
Not to mention, this is the third time they’ve played this Serbia team over the span of 3 weeks.

I'm glad our country's team won. That doesn't mean the players make me proud to be an American. These dudes have consistently shown themselves to be owned by China.

THEY ARE frickING WINNERS. Any more questions?

That was a hell of a game today from both sides. So glad America came back and won. The six point possession and Serbia missing the wide open three pointer up two in the final minutes were huge.

Just a thought. Are you willing to let me go through your property and take out and throw away all the stuff made in China?

Exactly. This had the making of every 14 over 3 seed matchup in March Madness. Serbia got hit from 3 and that kept them in it. Then their streak ran out and we figured it out. Sometimes that stuff happens in single elimination basketball. Thankfully we didn’t Bucknell Bill it in this situation.
