I guess you are too young to know who Flo Jo was?

The announcer made it very clear before the race the St. Lucian was the favorite

I also wouldn’t say it was “shocking”, but she did have a pretty big gap on Richardson at the finish line. If Richardson runs her best race idk if she goes faster than 10.72 on that wet track, but would’ve been close.

I mean it’s a big upset in that Alfred has never medaled before but it’s not exactly a big upset that Sha’Carri lost. She’s had issues with her start in other races. But again, some folks are acting like she’s wasted or washed up because of it. That distance is almost always heavily competitive and can result in some surprises.
This is Julien Alfred’s 1st Olympics, She was the 2022 NCAA 100 M champion, and currently has the 2nd fastest times in the World for 60 M and 200 M. Most people don’t consider this an upset.

Sha’Carri won the Silver Medal at the Olympics, She should be proud for performing well at the highest level on the biggest stage.

The Olympics have a long list of favorites who didn’t win, and a long list of people doing things they’ve never done before.

She looked nervous before the semis and at the finale. I think the moment got to her. Still hard to blame someone for only being the second fastest in the world.

She had to run a technically perfect race to win, and she didn't. There's not much more to the story than that.

The rain does not help someone like her who has to take a few more strides than Alfred. She is also normally a tad slow out of the blocks but was even slower than usual tonight. Even if she had ran well, I don't think she would have won given the pace.

she’s struggled on her several of her starts.

All 3 Americans struggled at the start tonight, and they said they are all trained by the same coach.

Alfred ran a top 10 time of all time today in the rain. It was an incredible race.

With a good start Sha’Carri had a chance. With the starts she’s been having, you’ll live with the result.

Nobody is saying she’s done and will never win a medal again.

But she was anointed the “fastest woman in the world” and she was the heavy favorite and she was supposed to win this event and she was celebrated for being such a “confident, young, proud, BLACK woman”

If you’re celebrating all that other extraneous bullshite and bringing race and politics into this, then you should go win the gold medal and shut everyone up. But no, you choked. Maybe 4 years from now you can get it done.

Ok so maybe she’s not as good as everyone wishes she was?

Well her family sure was disappointed. No smiles at all from that lot. One relative had her head in her hands in obvious disappointment.

That family seems to love attention and nobody pays extra attention to the family of a silver medalist.

She got her arse whipped.

winning a world championship in the 100m will do that.... 2nd fastest woman in the world ain't exactly terrible either, chief...

as you would expect, being the current world champion in the event...

there it is... i HIGHLY doubt you'd be as critical of this woman if she were the correct pigmentation... but you do you, bro.... you do you

yes she did... you could see from the semifinal that Alfred was the stronger runner.... she absolutely flew...

congrats to her, but i'm still proud of Richardson, a silver medal in one of the toughest events in the world shouldn't be discounted, even if she was favorited to win... may not have been the result we wanted or expected, but get back to work and aim higher for LA in 4 years

There’s a difference in posting “yeah they did a great job, very high level performance” and “she’s too woke to win the gold”
