That was one hell of a performance for a closing ceremony transition to the US. I've never watched prior countries do this. Is it always that all out?

I was watching something earlier that said LA basically got it because no one else wanted it. Hopefully they use it as an opportunity to clean up that cesspool. I was there about 7 or 8 years ago and it is just overcrowded and it looks like it is even more unsafe now than it was then. They need to up their public transport big time.

Why couldn’t they do the LA portion in the actual stadium?

Paris’s version of the cauldron was a total miss.

No one wanted it the last time LA hosted it in 1984 and it invigorated the Summer Olympics to where we got another one only 12 years later and cities were nearly bankrupting themselves to bid and host future games. Maybe we see LA get better again with 2028. Olympic host bidding is now pretty much confined to cities with facilities already built or nearly done.

It looks like it’s some French girl named Yseult, and I have no idea how her and Amber Riley are not the same person

Naw, that was pretty cool, and fitting for Paris. I'm pretty excited for when LA debuts the model 7-eleven to ignite as it's flame.

Seriously though, I hope they just use the coliseum torch. It's so iconic.
