Guy at work just got a call that everyone south of I-10 has to move (out of their homes) because the water supply is contaminated. He told me and I laughed, but he was serious. Whoever called him said they heard it on the news twice. I doubt that is what they heard, but just goes to show you how easily some people can be influenced by what they hear on tv and radio.

Someone was on WWL this morning saying sort of the same thing.
Who's water source is the Gulf of Mexico?

is the question that should be asked. Still very unlikely to be affected.

If Bayou Lafourche gets infected we are in for a world of hurt, especially if it gets up past the intracoastal.

How much saltwater intrusion does Bayou Lafourche get normally this time of the year?
Posted on 5/25/10 at 9:51 pm to TigerFred
We get quite a bit of Saltwater intrusion in Bayou Lafourche. A couple of years ago the water company was sending out flyers telling people to take into account the salt in the drinking water if they were on a salt restricted diet. I also seem to remember the water company needing to divert water from farther upstream due to salt.

enough to close down valentine paper. Not enough to get to last water source above Lockport.

A couple of years ago, we limited out on specks just about a mile south of Nichols.

You sir are either a dumbass, a terrible map reader or don't know the difference between a spec and a sac au lait.

Leave him alone. I'm sure the limit on specs, a mile south of Nichols, is 0.

Not sure aboot the specks thing, but on occasion, it would not be uncommon to catch a redfish on one cast and then a bass on another in Lake Fields.

Three years ago we were catching SPECS at the Tickfaw River and Lake Maurepas.
So why not specs south of Thibodeaux ??????
