This FTW.

Transocean will NOT go from teh world's largest drilling company to non-existant.

This is BP's second MAJOR strike in 5 years....and AFTER a major organizational overhaul and a new CEO as a result of the Texas City debaucle.

Not that they're going down, but this will be major.

This is not looking good for Transocean. BP lawyers >>>>>>>>> Transocean lawyers

And Transocean will pass the buck to Cameron, the company that made the BOP.

And Cameron will be bankrupt and none of the lawsuits will ever get paid. And it will all just roll downhill (or onshore)

The unfortunate thing is that in reality both companies will weather this in the long run. However the marshes, beaches, shrimpers, fishermen, hotels, restaurants, boutiques, condo owners, etc. will probably not. I feel for the entire gulf coast right now. A spill this large will most likely impact us all.

You people are such fricking crybabies.

Pardon me for not being overdramatic in response to something I can neither control nor influence.

It is what it is. Could it suck for folks on the gulf coast? Yes. Am I ONE OF THEM? Yes.

Worrying is like a rocking chair....

a bullet train from NOLA to Houston would be useful i'd imagine

Or Atlanta. Or Chicago.
Travel times at an avg. of 120 mph:
Houston: 3 hrs.
Atlanta: 4 hrs.
Chicago: 8 hrs.

Yeah...sucks that 200,000+ people won't lose their jobs b/c of one frick up (massive as it may have been).

I do too, believe it or not. I just think some of you are being a LITTLE overdramatic.

Yes, it will.

BTW, prayers for the 11 souls buried forever in the bottom of the gulf of mexico. Everyone seems to have forgotten about them.

How exactly will all this electricity be produced?

Do you ride the train down from the mountaintops from where you live?

How will the ethanol be produced-electric powered farm equipment? Mules?

Take your Green nonsense to the Poli board. There are a few more of you over there.

NEW ORLEANS - The Coast Guard says a new leak has been found at the site where a oil platform exploded and sank off in the Gulf of Mexico.

Rear Adm. Mary Landry says that 5,000 barrels a day is now what is estimated to be leaking. Officials had been saying for days that it was 1,000 barrels a day.

Landry says the National Oceanic Atmospheric Administration says a better estimate is 5,000 barrels a day.

Oil is pouring into the Gulf from a site where the rig Deepwater Horizon exploded and sank last week.

Officials say the leading edge of the oil was nearing the Louisiana coast and could impact it as early as Friday evening.

Now leaking 5,000 barrels a day instead of the earlier estimate of 1,000 barrels a day. This could come close to Exxon Valdez type numbers.
