It is fiber optics and there is no delay at all

Looks like they've got the circular saw out again. This time on the riser where they're trying to make the cut with the shears. So my guess is that they're going to cut away the C & K lines and then use the shears again on the riser pipe.

RedStick, couldn't you have enough pressure on the outside to collapse the 9.875" if you had seawater inside? I know it is usually designed for dry inside but what if you have a butt load of pressure on the backside?
Yes you could definitely have it collapse where the seawater is which is around 3,000 feet BML.
The other issue with fishing and killing this well is you would have a rig and people doing these operations on a live flowing well. We don't want to see a repeat of the Horizon.

If it couldnt cut through those small ones, now I am starting to worry.

I don't think it was that it couldn't cut through them but that the width was too large for the jaws of the shear.

Depending on the grade casing they ran the collapse pressure could be as low as 1700 psi but as high as 22,000 psi.

A second saw now on the scene. See, these guys do know how to do things in parallel.

After looking in the book I'm betting 11,140# for the number.

One more piece just got cut off.
Posted on 6/1/10 at 3:51 pm to omegaman66
how many pieces are they cutting off?

However many smaller pipes run along the outside of the main riser pipe. I think that number is three.

Does it look like the mandrel on the saw blade is causing the radius to be too small?
Posted on 6/1/10 at 3:56 pm to omegaman66
If there were any heros in all of this it would be the ROVs and their operators.

That's one bad arse saw blade.

Is part of the riser right below the C/K line cut?
Posted on 6/1/10 at 4:05 pm to nuwaydawg
I thought it looked that way.

Is that duct tape in that wiring?
Posted on 6/1/10 at 4:12 pm to redstick13
BTW thanks for the updates guys. My rig just smoked one the generators so I'm on downtime and back at the house where I can watch the video feed.
