This whole event has really opened my eyes to how clueless our society is. I hear over and over really stupid stuff at work, on the radio, facebook, via email, etc. All it takes is a little bit of reading from a factual source and you can find the answers to alot of things and educate yourself just a little bit. I know everyone I work with went to college, but they still spread this stupid rumor stuff around all day long like a bunch of 5th graders. They sure know about what happened on Lost last night though.

Amen and Amen.

If the mud holds then yeah getting the cement in there shouldn't be a problem.

I hope you are right. But I think (and don't know) that they will have to get the well static, then pump a spacer to avoid cement contamination. Maybe they have some sort of special cement that can set up in water based mud, though.

Mud is still being pumped. Cement to follow hopefully. Relief well still will be needed to PERMANENTLY plug the well.

Then in 6 months or so after the ban has been lifted they can start drilling for production. Possible using the relief well but from further up drilling away from the deeper plug,

Good point. People (well intentioned though they may be) who really know nothing jumping to conclusions based on something that they saw on TV. I am no engineer but I expect that BP has so much to lose that it has the best it can find working on this. Only hope that this does not have the political results that seem about to happen.

Since I haven't heard anything, I assume that none of the rig wreckage has gotten in the way. Are they the least interested in examining any of it?

Everything that moron in office does politically is a disaster, why would this be different?

Just another way for socialist government control in his eyes.

He stopped drilling and will not even think of what that will do to every single American in the way of higher prices, and I'm not just talking at the pumps, the whole economy is in come way affected by higher oil n gas prices and he is making it worse!!!

I had read somewhere that the rig had fallen 1500 ft from the BOP. I,m sure once they get the flow stopped they will be over there looking for clues.

And I also assume they are just going to leave it, since it's so damaged there is no need to try and bring it up or whatever.

truer words have not been spoken on this board in a long time

Why because it took him this long to figure out people talk when major events happen? Using the whole "society is wrong and I'm right" routine?

So am I understanding correctly that the investigation is centered around the CBL now? Oh, the irony. My first job out of LSU was designing CBL tools for Dresser (at least it wasn't Schlumberger ).
