I have a feeling there is a tool joint on the drill pipe between the bend and the flange.

With the cut apparently made, how long till the tophat is lowered and oil collection begins?

Also, how much do they think they can collect with a top hat and a not-so-clean cut? 30%? 50%? 75%?

Next question - let's say the Top Hat does what they think it is capable of (best case scenario) and there is still oil leaking, as expected. Are there other maneuvers they can do once the top hat is on that will allow them to stop/capture the remaining oil leaking?

I'll hang up and listen.

That riser will be in a museum somewhere. Has any sinlge object been more talked about this decade? Glad it's gone.

looks like rov1 from Q4000 is inspecting something being lowered. Is that the "top hat" device?

looks to be around 3200ft..

I just woke up. Was the visibility good enough to see around the top of the BOP after the cut? Any indication what is in the BOP? I doubt they could since it's likely in the pipe rams itself and I believe one of the annular preventers is closed.

I'd like to see the feed of the ROV shoved up James Cameron's arse.
