Power out again. Presumably for good this time.

Obviously no internet so I'm using data. Battery at 97% and brightness turned down.

Was not expecting that back end looking on radar

Understandable, but radar only picks up rain clouds, basically.

Only thing I can imagine for the perceived stronger winds for so many of you, outside of the lack of a ramp up, would be the fact the storm forward motion is helping winds out of the W. An ENE wobble would enhance west winds.

I have been through a few hurricanes before but I can’t remember the first part being nothing, not even hurricane force winds.......then the eye......then much stronger winds

Hurricanes can suck in a lot of dry air and become halfricanes on the radar but even though there’s no moisture there there’s still a ton of wind.

My friend just sent me this, Eden Isle

Not sure if serious, but it’s from Delta. That nearly fricked storm chaser was searching for “crocs” and finally found one.

I thought the northern eyewall was supposed to be worse? These south eyewall winds feel worse.

The South eyewall tends to fall apart before the North. When eyewalls fall apart, they retain their angular momentum, so as pieces "break off", they can spin up into mini tornadoes, almost. So if you're in the right spot, you can get a relatively steady North eyewall but very gusty winds coming from different directions in quick succession that can do a lot of damage as the South eyewall starting to lose its cohesion passes over.

That eyewall falling apart and wrecking shite is what happened to inland Mississippi during Katrina. The coast got the high winds and flooded, but all along her path, she tore shite up to Hattiesburg and beyond as she spun off pieces of her eyewall.

Crews have to wait until it’s safe to get out there. Then patrol the line to find the problem and then depending on the issue make the repair. East bank substations are all in good shape so as long as the distribution isn’t fricked it should t be too bad .

Not surprising. The old Causeway is damn near sea level so any storm that gets close, it starts flooding.
