In 2001 we regularly had bomb threats at NWMS

So have the times really changed that much?

We had bomb threats at our school too but everybody knew it was because somebody forgot to study or turn in a project lol. Guns is a whole different game.

Yep. We would always get them around test days. This is LEAP testing so there you go.

If I may ask, what private school did you put her in?

Silliman in Clinton. There is a waiting list for many grades. I registered her last year but didn’t get a spot in the fall. They had a spot come open in January.

They have 2 buses than run to Zachary everyday.

I’m sure that’s a more homogeneous environment, but I’m not sure it’s a better education.

Silliman was our biggest rival in HS.

Care to provide additional information? I didn’t see that other kids were involved in the article

There’s a token here or there just like all those schools that formed right after segregation ended. IIRC the first black kid to graduate there was in 04’.

It’s not a better education. Family we know pulled one of there kids out after the eldest struggled in intro college courses.

It absolutely is a better education. There aren’t as many distractions in the classroom for one.

Classrooms are half the size that she had at Zachary. Many of the teachers are from Zachary.

This is the rumor at the school.
Kids are saying he had 2 other kids(not students at the school) who were going to help carry out the plan.
These other two alleged perpetrators have not been identified.
Again, to be clear, this is based on middle school chatter.

I’d like to see some data (college acceptance rates, test scores, AP performance) to back up the claim of a better education. I just don’t buy it.

It’ll be fine as long as y’all don’t run afoul of the silliman/east fel legacies. If it comes to it they will always protect their own at the expense of the safety of the outsiders. You will not win if you go against them. There’s already grumblings of not liking Zachary people coming in.

That won’t be a problem since I graduated from Silliman and grew up in East Fel. I can say honestly my daughter is much happier where she is an that’s all that matters to me.

I don’t need all that shite. I can see with my eyes the difference. My daughter is happier and I don’t have to worry about her going to school in an unsafe environment.

Did Zachary start having problems when they started winning football championships or was it already in motion before that?

It’s been in motion since 2010 or so. Many factors but the #1 reason is Zachary got caught off guard with the landowners selling tracts to developers and not having a solid planning code in place.

Tract builders came in and threw up a bunch of cheap small lot subdivisions. Many of the houses are rent houses out in the plank road subs.

The city has their P and Z codes updated now that it will be less tract building inside the city.

The Zachary school district extends beyond the city limits. So now the developers are going into unincorporated areas of tge school district and buying land.

I give Zachary another 5 years before they start losing a net population.

People are moving further north. I know last year was tge first time in like 50 years East Feliciana had a net gain on population.
