Is being in possession of someone else’s property enough to charge someone with stealing that property? Even if the other person isn’t around to say it was stolen? I don’t know that that would stand up

We arent a jury, this is simply public opinion.

He definitely knows where she is. Use whatever tools are available to force him in a corner.

I’m not a prosecutor or an attorney but if a person is missing and another person possesses that vehicle, they have converted that vehicle.

I’m just trying to figure out a way to get the guy to talk. That’s all. I’d like to know what happened in Utah.

He's not going to without a deal.

He will get off relatively easy or not be convicted. Affluence.

I think most people are defending it from a legal perspective. It’s absolutely the right thing to do legally.

Not cooperating with anyone is the right thing to do legally? Not even telling the family where you last saw her? Yea it's good legal advice if you murdered her.

If I’m that guy’s defense attorney, he isn’t talking to anybody. He has that right and I would encourage him to exercise that right. His attorney probably knows this guy is guilty but he’s supposed to only advocate for his client.

With all that being said, I’m not sure how defense attorneys live with themselves knowing they get people off of crimes they know they committed. On the flip side, there are piece of shite prosecutors that just want a conviction at any cost rights be damned.

This is why attorneys get a bad rap. It’s really a no win situation.

yeah no doubt. I'm not a badass or anything, and I certainly wouldn't do anything drastic that would compound the pain already felt on the rest of the family, but doing something that would land me in jail for a couple of days wouldn't be out of the question.

Attorneys in law school are taught to learn to think in a different way. There is a Constitution and a system, and your job is to zealously advocate for your client. There are rules though.

And attorneys will often steer their clients towards a guilty plea when they know their client is 100% guilty. It is often the client that refuses.

You can't charge someone without a victim. They can't prove he stole the van.

It's suspicious but not a crime unless a victim (the owner) reports it stolen.

The boyfriend is clearly guilty of something, most likely murder.

If she truly disappeared in or near the Tetons, they will probably never find her. There is so much undeveloped and untouched wilderness out there, he wouldn't have to go far off the beaten path to get rid of her body in a place that nobody will ever locate it.

Seems like a court could get a search warrant for his phone. Unless he turned it off, maybe there’s GPS tracking. Do you need a body for a search warrant?

re: YouTuber missing after cross-country trip with boyfriend. UPDATE: Boyfriend is now missing
Has any new info been posted in here?

I’m listening to my local radio station and apparently police put him in a hotel after a minor physical fight(she stayed in the van) and 2 other women were found dead 2 blocks from where the girl was seen.

Is this accurate?

Are you an attorney?

There is clearly a presumption that he took her vehicle without her consent being that she is missing and he drove home with her vehicle. At minimum, the cops could question how he ended up with her vehicle without her in it. If he refuses to speak then hit him with the charges because the evidence shows he took her vehicle and he hasn’t provided proof, even a statement/consent that she told him he could take her vehicle.

Even if you knew there was a missing girl out there, you thought he was innocent of homicide and you would still convince him not to cooperate?

Or at least let you spill the beans?

This is one reason why lawyers have a shitty name.
