I moved to BR for LSU (granted my family is all from there), from rural podunk La and my main friends to this day include an eclectic mix of people from basically every private school in town and various public HS's. No one gave af freshman year of college and no-one really cares now. Its just friendships, just about every BR raised friend I have welcomed me with open arms at LSU.
