Yep. YouTube disabled all dislike buttons on all videos around December of last year. This is the definition of fake news. But whatever gets people riled up is good!
eta: Whoops I meant to say the counter. The dislike button was not disabled on the trailer though.

I don't disagree with a black princess, but to change the one thing that made Ariel so well known, the red hair is so incredibly stupid

Mermaids are evil freaks of nature. They seduce sailors with their enticing upper bodies, only to reveal their scales right before they kill them.
I dislike them also.
Ummmmm... what?
Might be confusing mermaids and sirens?

Can’t wait for white folks to be in the Mulan remake!

The irrational belief in an inherent agenda behind things like this can be a sight to behold.

I think he meant the counter or “number of dislikes” that can be seen.

Well he specifically said "disabled all dislike buttons" when they most certainly did not. And you can easily see the dislikes with a browser addon.

Why the frick do people care what race the little mermaid is?

They seem to not realize who’s on Twitter at this point

There aren’t 1.5MM racist trolls on Twitter. Good try though. There are probably 1.5MM people who legitimately dislike the trailer though

Because of the blatant double standard.
Do you think they would ever cast a white man in the role of Black Panther?
Why is it ok to change the race of one character, but not another?

My bad I meant the counter. But that also means you can see that they did not remove the dislike button on the trailer. So again....rile them baws up!

I knew CRT on z would have to weigh in.

Can someone please give me a compelling reason on why you think it's wrong for the chacater in the kids movie to be black?
I think Amber Heard should play Rosa Parks.
Maybe Chris Pratt as MLK.
Look, if that’s the way you want to play it, fine.
No more white roles. No more black roles. Just Roles.
When you establish the look of a character, you can tweak it a bit but there are certain features.
This chick ain’t Ariel. They couldn’t make up their own mermaid story? Is there no African or Caribbean folklore that exists?
They had to take a Dutch story about a pale mermaid with gorgeous red hair and give her dreadlocks? Come the frick on.
The same people crying about “cultural appropriation” and blackface do it the most of all.

You have no idea what you’re talking about. The Dislike button is indeed still there for all videos and can be accessed even through the app
To view the amount or dislikes simply takes a Google browser extension

Yep. I misspoke. The dislike button is still indeed on the trailer video though.

I don’t think black panther is a good equivalent. Being black is part of his character and back story
That would be similar to Thor. Being a Norse god making Thor black would make zero sense. The little mermaid is a character that was completely made up with no historical background. Her race is inconsequential to her storyline
I see no issue with what race Ariel is. Now, in casting if they said “it has to be a black girl”, then that is 100% wrong

Explain that comment. What evidence do you have that leads you to believe Disney did not intentionally cast her solely based on the fact that she’s not white? Because Disney themselves recently promised to do just that.
So I’ll wait for you to justify your comment.
