Have to agree with you on this one, Roger.

I don't really get why anyone gives an ounce of shite. I understand people are tired of woke bullshite but I can't find it in me to care about this whether Ariel is black or white

And nothing will be done about it. Because racism is perfectly fine here from the right side.

And there's the crying over pointing things out with facts. Can't disprove it so go with the classic "you raciss" line towards someone you don't know anything about.

Facts hurting your feelings is a personal problem, not one for someone else to help you squash. Man up and get rid of the chip on your shoulder.

Its a made up childs story. Unless they're grooming kids, don't care about it one bit.

I gave up Hollywood decades ago. Garbage in, garbage out.

It's because people see that's it's a forced agenda and not organic. Think they seriously consider a white red girl for the part? Good chance they decided day 1 they were going to make a point. It's the hypocrisy as the say one thing, but are doing something else. Ie..."dont piss on me while telling me it's raining"

It's all apart of the indoctrination gas lighting. Why all of sudden every couple in commercials are white girl/black guy. Think that's organic all of a sudden? If whites don't like it it's raciss. People act like there wouldn't be an outcry by blacks if every couple in commercials were white men/black women. But those outcries would fall under the "ohhh it's no big deal cause blacks can't be racist" myth.

Similar tactic is being used to push the gay agenda. Goes to the idea of if Aliens learned from our nation watching today's TV they would think the nation were interacial couples (only one way though) and gays/trannies. Is that the truth on the ground when they arrive?

It's all forced subliminal messaging to fundamentally transform America. You or others may not care, but doesn't make people how care to point it out bad either.

If conservatives were serious about the culture war, they'd give up twitter, Hollywood and Madison avenue, as well as consumerism.

They aren't serious.

34 pages about a mermaid. The state of the World today is precarious.

A year ago the buzz was about a pillow. That didn't raise your eyebrows, I see.

ummmm, I am the one that pointed that out to you, sport. After you went into some historical BS about her being Caribbean and a POC
I see you have completely misunderstood the argument. Let me try to lay it out more clearly.

Disney's original cartoon adaptation of the Little Mermaid appears to be set in or around the Caribbean. The fauna, the climate, the vibe. Given that, a dark-skinned Ariel absolutely fits their adaptation.

So if youre gonna flip back and forth between animation and actual history
I have done no such thing. My every comment from the start has revolved around the fact that Disney's original adaptation of the Little Mermaid is their own adaptation, and as such neither the locale of the original Danish story nor the origins of Triton matter at all. The history does not matter. IMO, what matters is that Disney by many lines of evidence appears to have intended their adaptation to be set in or near the Caribbean, so making Ariel black is less of a shoe-horning and more of a natural fit for their version of the character.

In other words, it looks like Disney made Ariel white in the beginning as a form of pandering to make the most money, and now some folks are mad about not being pandered to.

lulz

No it isnt. Disney just Americanized the original story. American English speaking leads depicting a wealthy family, who had an IMMIGRANT in their employ. None of that suggests where the family was born or resided

Or do you think the plantations depicted in Roots or Gone with the Wind were in Africa because of how the servants spoke?

LoL

The tropically colored fish and the numerous references to warm weather and sun and the place being called "Atlantica" and the Jamaican crab kind of suggest that the intent was for the setting to *not* be Denmark or Greece.

How do you explain to your young child why the movie mermaid doesn't look anything like the mermaid at Disneyland.

Is this a difficult conversation in your home? This wouldn't even faze my kids and it's mind-blowing that it is throwing adults for a loop.

The tail is the dead giveaway. Tell your young child to look for the tail.

I think they need a challenge. I wanna see them motherfrickers redo "Powder", "Casper","Jungle Book" or "Tarzan" with a black lead.
