It's almost gotten to a point where high school coaches frown on kids that played rec leagues. If you want your kid to be good and your kid REALLY likes baseball then do the travel ball thing. If your kid just wants to experience little league and isn't interested in being on ESPN then join a rec league. Don't do both. Rec leagues don't want travel ballers.

Nobody is impressed that Braxxton and Maddox showed up to a rec league with Marucci batting gloves, multiple $300 bats, $200 gloves, black face paint, did a crow hop while hitting the ball and is yelling "LETS GO!!!" after sliding into 3rd base. Nobody even knows what the score is.

Why do you care what other people’s children do?

I’m always curious about these travel threads.

Some kids really love a sport. So what?

I’m not doubting any of that. But actions speak louder than words. I have no doubt that you are a good dad…I just wonder if he says and does what he does because deep inside he thinks you’d be disappointed after spending all that time and money.

I played football from Jr high through HS, most of the time I hated it, but my Dad loved me playing, I would never have quit.

I wonder if she has checked the Baton Rouge area for competitors. I'll say this, they need to get some folks involved who are from around the world where soccer ? is HUGE and start recruiting immigrants. They play huge family and friends games almost every Sunday in Baton Rouge

A 3 year old? Hand and eye coordination suck at that age. Unless the kid is naturally an athlete, it'll probably be another 18 months before he masters that skill

Which is a damn shame. Some of the greatest hall of famers and Pro Athletes of yesteryear were multi sport athletes. We really should have pushed back 20+ years ago when they 1st started extending the schedules and over lapping.

I started my son at 9. What’s really hurting kids is coach pitch travel ball at 7yrs old.

There it is folks. Some parents believe travel ball is the ticket to ESPN. That pretty much sums it all up.

You cant be serious. I know Cresse with the canes very well. And lessons and training can absolutely teach you how to throw and pitch the correct way and definitely add quite a bit of velocity pitching. Serious question, have you ever played baseball and had elite lessons from the organizations you mentioned? It makes a impact on the player!!

Also, if you’re bitching about money maybe travel ball isn’t for your kid. Especially if your kid doesn’t buy into the process

My thread says sometimes little Johnny can get better with travel ball and the coaching but the elite players would be that way with or without it. What is beyond comical is everyone, parents included on canes black at all ages think they are headed to the big leagues and most parents players on Major level teams of other organizations think the same. Since travel ball has such elite coaching and makes such a huge difference that explains why the MLB teams are paying teenagers Millions as young as 16 from the Dominican. 2 teenagers are on my friends son high A MILB team and signed for several million at 16 and 17. FYI. They don’t have travel ball in the Dominican. Creese makes money selling the dream to little Johnny’s parents. Or. Since you know Creese so well ask him if he will do this for free since it’s all about development and the kids.

That’s the key word. Those parents absolutely exist. Absolutely. But those are the small minority. But it’s not 99% of the parents the OT makes it out to be.

By the OT, I mean the posters who don’t have kids or don’t have kids participating and have no idea the majority of parents that are hanging out at the ballparks on the weekend.

Nailed it lol money grab " we need your kid, would be great on this team " or at the local pay for training complex for your kid and the trainer thinks your kids has potential and knows a guy that has a travel team he or she would "fit" well with.

Who gives a damn what people do with their kids on the weekends. If they want to hangout at the ballpark and travel all over so their kids can play, let them. Personally its not for me, i have 2 boys (7/8yo) that both play rec ball, it gets them out of the house and gives them something to do. If they were extremely interested in playing, yea I would probably do it because it makes them happy. They are in coach pitch, which I personally think is too young for a “travel” team.

We spend our weekends at the camp fishing and playing on the beach. We are outside 99% of the time doing something. Now if they are interested in travel in the next couple of years, things my change as far as camp trips go. I would sacrifice that time to see my kids happy doing something they like. To each their own.

I'd rather watch 8u rec than 10u rec. The first few seasons of kid pitch is damn awful.

Oh look a walk...and another walk.
