Why?
Doesn't make sense to me to reel with the left for open faced reels and with the right for baitcasters.

I'm left handed. I throw both spin cast and bait cast with my left and reel with my right.

I'm right handed and reel both with the right. Feel very uncoordinated reeling with the left.
Most of my friends reel right with baitcasters and left with spinning.

Same here, never understood why guys who retrieve a spinning reel left handed have trouble retrieving a baitcaster the same way.

I am right handed and feel very uncoordinated casting and setting the hook with the reel in my left hand. I reel with my left hand whether spinning or baitcasting.
