The Boot, 1993-97 and 1999-2005

True story: The worst night of my life was at The Boot. I brought my younger brother (he was maybe 22 at the time) and some frat stars decided to pick on him so I told the ringleader to go frick himself. Got jumped by 4-5 guys and had beer bottles broken across my face and head. Got a huge gash under my left eye and I was picking glass out of my scalp for a week.

frick the boot lol.

I must know you.

Would that be Nick Castrogiavanni's Original Big Train Bar? Count me in. Walter was my bartender back in the day (late 70's/early 80's)

Many will laugh but I had a lot of fun for many years at Pat O'Brien's, originally because it was cheap to drink there back in the day and because could get in at age 17 cause a friend was a bartender and there were always women there, then because I worked in the Quarter and stopped by daily on the way home for many years.

I'll add Amberjacks to the list just because of "frequency of attendance" when I lived out on the West End.

Also, can Miss Maes/Superior Grill/4141
1 be counted as 1 bar?

ETA. How could I have forgotten Parlays. Add to to the list for sure and shocked it wasn't mentioned before.

Pat O's would definitely be in the running for my alt. They somehow perfected the blend of touristy but still cool and fun for locals. I've had a lot of good nights begin or end there.

I lived above Semolina next door to the Bulldog in 1992-1993 (-ish?) Yes. I spent many hours there but mostly just drinking and playing NTN lol. They had this 6'5 bouncer that was probably insane and loved to beat the shite out of people, some tasty food (they had these chicken fajita things that were awesome) and a bartender that was hooked on Nubane(sp?).

As shady as any bar.

Oh I got one of those too....Vic-hum Harbour Island, Bahamas.....cool place we stayed at the bar until 4am and then gave the chick bartender a ride home on our golf cart....good times.

ETA They have a dirt floor half court basketball court in there.....several NBA guys played a pick up game there one time with Buddy Heild or one of those NBA Bahama guys.

OK. You just fully outed yourself as shady AF lol. I might know you ha

BTW, I am onboard with Tips as a music venue. It just sucks as a bar. I think I have seen 75-100 shows there. No better place to see live music.

COOL STORY: I went to see Buddy Guy at Tips in 92 maybe 93? Not sure. Anyway, it was hot as shite inside so in the middle of the set we leave front row and go out the door by the stage (me and my girlfriend at the time). We walk over to the neutral ground and sit to cool off for a minute BUT Buddy Guy follows us outside (he had a wireless setup on his guitar) and he plays his guitar solo in our faces, all alone outside. It was something I'll never forget.
