Has anyone listened to this 10 part podcast? This is hands down the best produced crime podcast I've listened to. It's produced by a freelance journalist that became interested in this case. As a result of the podcast's popularity, it's brought new interest, awareness, witness testimonies and tips to this 25 year old case. Without Chris Lambert, this case would most likely be forgotten. As of Thursday, the case has been under preliminary hearings in court for the past month and everyone's hoping the judge grants this case a proper trial.

There's only been one real witness with tons of circumstantial evidence that directly points to him, Paul Flores. I believe the case could've already been solved, but the police were incompetent from the beginning just like in the Jon Benet Ramsey case.

In May 1999, a highly intoxicated Kristin Smart walked back from a party at Cal Poly with 3 people. Two of them eventually split off and she was last seen with Paul Flores. Everyone, and I mean everyone, knows Paul Flores murdered her and his family helped him cover it up. Multiple people have said it was common knowledge not to be alone with Paul

-Police take 5 days to start looking for her and evidence is forever lost
-Paul tells 3 different stories to police and friends of how he got a black eye that showed up the next day after she disappeared
-He sent a kid to the hospital ICU in middle school for bashing his head
-Paul has a background of drugging girls, groping girls, body slamming one, showing up uninvited and acting creepy at parties, peeping at girls through their windows, following girls home, and almost drowning a girl until a parent intervened
-Paul was referred to as "psycho paul" and "scary paul" in high school and was seen at a party in bed with a passed out girl and another one that was foaming at the mouth
-A month after the disappearance, 3 different cadaver dogs searched the whole campus and all alerted to Paul's dorm room, specifically his mattress and trashcan (this is after the room had been cleaned by a janitor)
-At Susan's house (mom), a renter found one of Kristin's earrings (goes missing in police custody soon after) and heard Kristin's watch alarm every morning until the battery went out. This was in a location where a 6x3 concrete planter was installed the summer she went missing. Ground penetrating radar (2000 and 2007) and cadaver dogs have alerted to several anomalies but police chose not to dig because it was too much of a hassle even though they had a dig warrant written by a judge to do so. It is believed Kristin's belongings are buried there.
-Throughout the 25 years, the Flores' have been flat out rude to the Smarts. They've refused to call Kristin by name and refer to her as "that girl." The father, Ruben, has even pulled down "Find Kristin" flyers right after Kristin's dad hung them up.
-In Feb 2020, search warrants were carried out and all electronics seized of Paul, Susan, Ruben and his sister. This was based off of a Jan 2020 wiretap when the Flores' family was freaking out about the podcast and the attention it was getting.
-In March 2021, a search warrant at Ruben's house was conducted. GPR was used under his deck where forensics discovered decomposition stains, blood, and fabric fibers matching Kristin's clothes.
-In April 2021, Paul and Ruben were arrested for first degree murder and accessory after the fact. It's believed her body has been under Ruben's deck since '99 and they recently moved her body from under his deck somewhere between Feb '20-March '21
-Since 1999, Paul has drugged several women and raped them with homemade alcohol drinks he took to parties
-In the Feb 2020 search warrant, detectives found several homemade videos of Paul raping women while they were blacked out.

Anyone have any input or want to discuss this further? There's so much circumstantial evidence but without a body things are moving slowly. As I said at the top, listen to the podcast on Spotify or YOBY as it goes into much more detail. I'm hoping he does another episode soon.
You can follow what's happening in the preliminary hearings in this thread Justice for Kristin Smart.

TL/DR: Wikipedia Kristin Smart and she's not the same person as Elizabeth Smart

Not the podcast, but there is a documentary about the case. I don’t know HOW they didn’t dig. I’d be spitting bullets if it were my family.

Why the heck did they move her body after getting away with murder for 20 years?

Glad they got caught though

Cadaver dogs do not smell for a certain person. They smell for dead people smells.

Correct, they are trained to smell human chemicals consistent with decomposition. One of the dogs used helped find a downed ww2 pilot in Belgium and a bunch of US Marine remains on Tarawa. These dogs are legit. Buster

the watch alarm beeping outside the window of the renters was the worst/creepiest part of the case and podcast

I'm guessing the Flores' got spooked after detectives seized all their phones, laptops, modem,s etc. in Feb of 2020. They had to know a judge ordered search warrant would come eventually and decided to move the body. One of his neighbors did notice suspicious activity under his deck at night that included Susan, her boyfriend and his truck. I'm not sure of the date, but it's definitely after the Feb 2020 search warrant.

If I remember correctly, It went off at 4:30 AM which is the time Kristin got up for her lifeguarding job. I don't know how that family has held up for 25 years knowing what they know about the Flores'.
